Abstract

Chili is a type of food that is rich in nutrition. There are quite a number of types of chili on the market, but in this study samples of red peppers, yellow peppers, green peppers, red shypoon chili peppers, and green santika chili peppers were used which had not been studied before using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The purpose of this study was to describe the levels of vitamin C and β-carotene in several types of chili (Capsicum sp). This type of research is descriptive. The samples studied were 5 samples with the UV-Vis Spectrophotometry method. The data analysis used was Univariate analysis. The results showed that all samples contained levels of vitamin C and β-carotene with the results of vitamin C levels: red peppers (13.206 mg/g), yellow peppers (11.164 mg/g), red shypoon chili peppers (8.668 mg/g), paprika green chili (4.422 mg/g), green santika cayenne pepper (1.568 mg/g), β-carotene levels: red shypoon cayenne pepper (2.13 mg/g), yellow bell pepper (1.91 mg/g), paprika red (1.16 mg/g), green peppers (0.44 mg/g), green santika cayenne pepper (0.32 mg/g).

Abstract

Blemish Balm Cream (BB Cream), is a cosmetic product that is often used by women. In the composition of BB Cream, there are basic ingredients, one of which is a coloring agent that has many contaminants such as lead and cadmium. Dyes such as CI. 77492 or called iron oxide already contains lead and cadmium with levels < 10 and < 5 ppm. Long-term exposure to lead and cadmium can cause kidney damage and impaired nerve function. The purpose of this study was to determine that the levels of lead and cadmium in BB Cream circulating in the Samarinda area had met the safe limit. This research is a descriptive study using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry method. The variables in this study are the independent variables, namely the levels of lead and cadmium in BB Cream circulating in the Samarinda area. The results of measuring the levels of lead and cadmium in 10 samples of BB Cream showed that the levels of lead and cadmium in the tested BB Cream did not exceed the contamination limit. Based on this research, it can be concluded that there are lead and cadmium content from 10 samples, and of these 10 samples all 100% contain lead and cadmium and meet the requirementsfor the standard lead contamination 10 ppm and standard cadmium 5 ppm.

Abstract

Liquid lipstick is a cosmetic that is often used by women. The presence of water content in the raw material for lipstick can be a good medium for microbial growth. The use of a liquid lipstick tester is likely to have a high number of germs because it often comes in direct contact with the user's skin and lips. This study aims to determine the presence of Staphylococcus aureus bacterial contamination in the liquid lipstick tester. This research is a descriptive research. The variable in this research is a single variable, namely Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in the liquid lipstick tester. The number of samples was 16 samples from cosmetic shops in markets and malls in the City of Samarinda. The results of this study found that 61% of the liquid lipstick tester samples were contaminated with staphylococcus aureus bacteria. It is recommended to the public to pay attention to personal hygiene so that they are not contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by washing their hands or using an antiseptic either before or after trying the liquid lipstick tester.
