Abstract

Kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan komponen tidak terpisahkan dari kesehatan tubuh, karena kondisi gigi dan mulut memengaruhi kondisi kesehatan bagian tubuh lainnya. Menurut hasil Riskesdas 2018, secara umum, sebanyak 57,6% penduduk Indonesia memiliki masalah gigi dan mulut dengan proporsi penduduk yang mendapat perawatan oleh tenaga medis gigi masih sebesar 10,2%. Di Provinsi DIY, proporsi masalah gigi dan mulut sebesar 65,6% dengan proporsi masyarakat yang mendapat perawatan sebesar 16,4%. Upaya penanggulangan masalah kesehatan didasarkan pada upaya pengurangan risiko dan pelibatan aktif masyarakat Dalam pengabdian ini, penyuluhan kesehatan gigi dan mulut dan pelatihan pemeriksaan plak gigi diberikan kepada kader Posyandu Dusun Busuran. Sebelum dan sesudah penyuluhan, kader kesehatan diberi pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur tingkat pengetahuan kader mengenai kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Penyuluhan dilakukan dengan metode presentasi, sedangkan pelatihan pemeriksaan plak dilakukan secara demo dengan salah satu peserta menjadi subjek pemeriksaan. Sebanyak dua belas peserta yang terdiri atas sepuluh kader kesehatan dan dua anggota pemuda mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan. Dari sejumlah peserta tersebut, sebagian besar menjawab dengan benar lebih dari 60% total pertanyaan pada pretest, dan meningkat pada saat posttest. Program pengabdian ini diharapkan memberi banyak manfaat dan menjadi awal tumbuhnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Dusun Busuran

Abstract

Background: Root canal bacteria produce many virulence factors which are responsible for endodontic pathological states. Bacteria are assumed to utilize energy from bacterial cell metabolism activity for producing these virulence factors. Propolis extracts are commonly reported to have antibacterial abilities against dental pathogens. The purpose of this study is to investigate the possible correlation between bacterial proteolytic and metabolism activities under the treatment of ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP).Method: The 0.00125%; 0.05%; 0.1%; 0.2%; 0.4%; and 0.8% ethanolic propolis were prepared for recovery rate confirmative procedure, proteolytic, and metabolism activity assay, with 2% of chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX) was used as a positive control. The bacteria were cultured in brain heart infusion (BHI) media after EEP treatment. Bacterial suspension was initially prepared in broth culture dilution with BHI media, followed by the gelatin liquefaction measurement for proteolytic assay. Phenol-red and arginine dehydrogenase enriched media for observing both carbohydrate and arginine metabolism activities, respectively, in the clinical Enterococcus spp. and E. faecalis ATCC 29212.Result: The recovery rate of the bacteria was not terminated after several EEP treatments. Proteolytic activity of the bacteria was likely decreased in several EEP treatments. EEP tended to affect the carbohydrate and arginine metabolism of the bacteria in certain fashions.Conclusion: This study suggested that the EEP treatment affected both proteolytic and metabolism activity in negative regulation tendencies.

Abstract

Counseling campaigns on non-communicable diseases are a promotion strategy for health problems such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus. The disease is the third highest leading cause of death in Indonesia. This counseling is expected to be the first step in avoiding the dangers of non-communicable diseases. Counseling is conducted by lecture, discussion and question and answer methods. The number of counseling audience was twenty participants. Evaluation of counseling results is conducted through pre-test and post-test using questionnaires. Evaluation of counseling results showed that the average total score of public knowledge about non-communicable diseases had increased significantly. Analysis of the comparison test with Wilcoxon's formula showed an increase in knowledge of 30.5%. Based on the results of the evaluation of community service activities, it can be concluded that counseling with dissemination, question and answer methods could be effective in increasing public knowledge about non-communicable diseases.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are non-communicable and chronic diseases. NCDs are caused by genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. NCDs such as cancer and diabetes are among the highest causes of death. The implementation of Posbindu in Gandu District is currently still accompanied by Puskesmas officers. This is the focus of the Implementation Team to conduct training so that Posbindu can run independently. Posbindu training began with pre-test, material presentation, sphygmomanometer and GCU training, ended with post-test. T-Test results from pre- and post-test obtained significance values p = 0.00, sphygmomanometer training (p = 0.00), and GCU training (p = 0.00). This showed the influence of counselling and training on the knowledge and skills of PTM Posbindu member in using sphygmomanometer and GCU devices.
