Abstract

Technology has played an important role in human life including education. Teachers in this century are required to have technology skills for language teaching. However, in order to understand their level of literacy and challenges faced in implementing technology a study is required. The present study investigated student teacher`s literacy and challenges in using technology. This research was conducted by using mix method with sequential explanatory design. Sixty-one students of the seventh semester of English study program Universitas Jambi were selected as the participant in this research. In the quantitative phase Researchers used survey to collect the data to measure their experience, views, and literacy on technology using a likert scale of one to five. In the qualitative phase, the data were collected using interview towards eighth students are selected purposively from the high score and low score and analyze it by using content analysis. The survey showed that the participating student teachers have: 1) adequate experiences in using technology(x=3.66), 2). Positive views on technology(x=3.56), 3).average literacy on technology(x=3.87). The results of the interview showed some challenges faced by student teachers in implementing technology, The lack of facilities is the biggest challenge. The implication of the research is also discussed

Abstract

This study investigated students’ attitudes towards language and English language learning at Islamic senior high schools (Madrasah Aliyah Negeri) 1 Batanghari. This research is part of survey research. Survey study is designed to provide a quantitative or numeric description of trends, attitudes, or opinions of a population by studying a sample of that population (Creswell, 2012). The data were collected from questionnaires and focus group interviews. There were 120 students of the 2022-2023 academic year. The students showed positive attitudes as there was a 3.6684 total mean score gained by 120 students toward two variables presented. The interview findings revealed that the students' positive attitude may be caused by their motivation, instrumental and integrative. Teachers should respect and carefully investigate students' feelings, beliefs, needs, and behaviors before designing English courses to maintain positive attitudes toward English and English language learning. Overall, the students showed a positive attitude towards English. The questionnaire's results also showed that respondents recognized English's relevance in this time period. These are shown by their feeling, beliefs, or activities towards English.

Abstract

This study is aimed to investigate the challenges that teachers encounter when integrating technology into the preparation of teaching materials and how PPG graduates perceive the impact of technology on the efficiency and effectiveness of preparing teaching materials. The research methodology involves qualitative techniques, including interviews with PPG graduates, to gather data and analyze their perceptions. The study found that there are several challenges faced by the participants when they utilize technology in preparing their teaching material. The challenges encompassed internal and external factors. Simultaneously, it emphasizes the positive impacts of integrating technology in enhancing learning experiences considering both its benefits and challenges. The article provides a comprehensive exploration of the intricate relationship between education, technology, and teacher readiness in Indonesia.
