Abstract

Background.Prolonged parturition or labor that lasts longer than usual can increase the risk of complications and the potential for maternal death. The birth ball exercise, also known as the birth ball exercise or the pregnancy ball exercise, can help harness the influence of gravity to induce labor progress. This study aimed to assess the effect of birth ball exercises on the progress of labor during the first active phase at the PONED UPTD DTP Pedes Health Center, Karawang Regency, Indonesia. Methods. This study is an experimental study, where as many as 30 research subjects participated in this study. Analysis of the progress of labor was carried out using SPSS software in a univariate and bivariate manner. Results. The results of the study showed that the birth ball exercise had an effect on the progress of labor with a p-value = 0.002 (p <0.05). Conclusion, there is an influence of birth ball exercises on the progress of labor at PONED UPTD DTP Pedes Health Center, Karawang Regency, Indonesia.

Abstract

The establishment of successful breastfeeding is crucial for both maternal and infant health. However, many women experience challenges with milk production, leading to supplementation or early cessation of breastfeeding. Chayote (Sechium edule), a widely available and nutrient-rich vegetable, has been traditionally used to support lactation. This study aimed to investigate the effect of chayote consumption on breast milk production in postpartum women. A quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. Thirty-five postpartum women who reported concerns about milk supply were recruited. Participants consumed 600 grams of steamed chayote daily for seven days. Breast milk production was measured before and after the intervention using a standardized breast pump. Additionally, maternal perception of milk supply and infant weight gain were assessed. The mean breast milk production increased significantly from 315 ml (SD = 45) at baseline to 480 ml (SD = 55) after the intervention (p < 0.001). The majority of participants (82.9%) reported a perceived increase in milk supply. Infant weight gain also showed a positive trend, although not statistically significant. The consumption of chayote appears to be effective in enhancing breast milk production in postpartum women. This readily available and affordable dietary intervention may offer a valuable strategy to support lactation and promote breastfeeding success.

Abstract

Background: Pain during the first stage of the active phase is one of the main obstacles in the labor process. The rebozo technique, a traditional technique from Mexico, has been proven to be effective in reducing labor pain. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the rebozo technique on the intensity of pain in the first stage of the active phase and the duration of labor in multigravida mothers in Wanayasa District, Purwakarta Regency. Methods: This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test with a control group design. The research sample was 60 multigravida mothers who were divided into two groups: the intervention group (n=30), who received the rebozo technique, and the control group (n=30), who received standard care. Pain intensity was measured using the visual analogue scale (VAS) and duration of labor was calculated from 4 cm of cervical dilatation to complete dilation. Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference in the intensity of pain during the first active phase between the intervention group and the control group (p=0.001). The mean pain intensity in the intervention group was lower than the control group (VAS: 4.2 ± 1.5 vs. 6.1 ± 1.8). There was no significant difference in length of labor between the two groups (p=0.123). Conclusion: The rebozo technique is effective in reducing the intensity of pain during the first active phase in multigravida mothers but has no effect on the length of labor.

Abstract

This study was to determine the corellation between maternal characteristics and severe preeclampsia at RSU A Purwakarta. This research design uses descriptive analytical research method with cross-sectional. The data used is secondary data from medical records. The variables studied included: maternal age, parity, history of hypertension, gestational age. The population taken was women giving birth with severe preeclampsia who gave birth by CS or spontaneously. Samples taken as many as 130 from 192 populations. Sampling using simple random sampling technique is described by using bivariate technique.. The results showed that the corellation of preeclampsia on the type of delivery that was significant (p value <0.05) was gestational age with a P-value of 0.010. While the factors that did not correlation were maternal age, parity, gemelli pregnancy, history of hypertension, and LBW. Pregnancy can affect the incidence of preeclampsia in women with childbirth at the A Purwakarta General Hospital.

In Indonesia, according to Household Health Survey (SKRT) 1992, it is reported that 63.5% pregnant women suffer from anemia. Methods: This study was conducted using descriptive design with cross sectional and secondary data obtained in May. Samples of this study were all of 92 total population of pregnant women who procured laboratory examination in Permata Bunda Maternal Hospital Purwakarta . Results: According to bivariate analysis, it is obtained that there is a significant relationship between the incidents of anemia in pregnant women and women’ education with the p value = 0,000, and pregnancy spacing with p value = 0,000. Based on the data analysis, it is obtained that description shows that there is a more significant relationship between predisposition variable and the incidents of anemia on pregnant women with their education by OR of 1,106, on pregnancy spacing of more than two years with no giving birth experience by OR of 1,122. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the incidents of anemia in pregnant women and women’ education and pregnancy spacing with p value = 0,000. no giving birth experience by OR of 1,122.

Abstract

The management of midwifery practice using the objective structure clinical examination (OSCE) in method of laboratory practice requires instruments that have been tested or validated so that they can provide valid assessment results, compared with instruments by the person in charge of the laboratory or a quality person who is only limited to do observations during learning. The value standard is carried out by implementing 6 value standards,. namely the theological value of students always praying before doing osce exams, ethical-legal values of students respecting lecturers and being responsible for all actions while in the laboratory, aesthetic values where students always maintain a neat osce room, quiet and beautiful room, logical-rational value: students take practical exams in accordance with existing standards, physical-physiological values students must be able to analyze each existing case, such as the diagnosis and actions to be carried out in the osce process, teleologic scores: students can use every component in the laboratory according to its function. The student observation sheet contains 17 questions that have passed the midwifery and education expert test, then tested to 77 students with the results of the Alpha Cronbach reliability test of 0.86 > 0.6 which are in the category of "reliable”, so the Osce Assessment Instrument can be used or is feasible to measure student at osce towards the midwifery care course at Bhakti Asih Polytechnic Purwakarta because of its reliability value of 0.860
