Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTFood TypeCharacteristic of the Fruit Bats at Urban Area: A Case Study in Bogor BotanicalGarden, West Jawa. Bats have important role on seed dispersal and or plant pollinator. Theidentification of flower and their pollens as the feed resource for bats was conducted in BogorBotanical Gargen. The resultsof this study showed that Eonycteris spelaea male has interestsin with personatus corola type flower, while the female in disk type. Furthermore the male ofMacroglossus sobrinus has interested in rotatus, tubulosus, and perferesence, corola types.Where as the female has interest in campanulatus type. The campanulatus and papilionaceustypes has a potential to be visitd by Cynopterus minutus male and female of C. sphinx;Urceolatus type has important for female of C. titthaheileus and C. brachyotis. The male ofMacroglossus sobrinus and female of Eonycteris spelaea has interests to visit the flower withsuboblate and prolate spheroidal pollen types; prolate pollen type has importance for themale of Eonycteris spelaea; oblate type for the male of C. minutus, C. brachyotis and C.titthaheileus; oblate spheroidal for the female of Rousettus amplexicaudatus and male of C.sphinx. The male of C. titthaheileus and female of Macroglossus sobrinus has interests ingigantic type (>200 ì m), while the female of C. sphinx, C. brachyotis and R. amplexicaudatuslike permagnae type (100-200 ì m).Key words: Fruit bats, pollen identification, urban areaKata kunci: Kelelawar buah, pollen, identifikasi, perkotaan

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe area of reclamation and revegetation in farmer coal mine has one role as bird habitat. The purpose of this study was to determine indicators of the types of bird that can progress successed reclamation and revegetation program in habitat function of fauna. The method used was bird species and bottom vegetation identification I in each habitat type used transect and mistnet. The data was analyzed using multivariate analysis of hDCCA. The results using hDCCA preedicted that the key indicator of bird characteristics that marks the development of succession in the fifth year is the presence of “insectivore bird” type. Bird species were B15 (Lanius schach), B20 (Prinia flaviventris), B23 (Picoides moluccensis), B28 (Pachychepala hypoxantha), B29 (Rhipidura javanica), B30 (Orthotomus ruficeps), B31 (Orthotomus sericeus). Keywords: hDCCA, insectivore bird, key indicator, reclamation and revegetation,

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Grouping of Fruit Bats Based on Pollend Type Characterized as Food Resources inBogor Botanical Garden, Indonesia. A study was conducted to identify pollen consummedby fruits bat in Bogor Botanical Garden from March 2008 to June 2009. The types of crown ofthe flower, pollen and pollen size which chosen by fruit bats were analysed by using highdetrended canonical correspondent. The result indicated that there are three major groups ofbats based on the similarities of food type or flower resources consumed by fruit bats. Thegroups were (1) males of Macroglossus sobrinus and the females of Eonycteris spelaea, (2)Cynopterus brachyotis and the females of C. minutus, and (3) males and females of C.titthaheileus, females of C. brachyotis and Macroglossus sobrinus, males of C. sphinx and C.minutus, and females of C. sphinx.Key words: Megachiroptera, pollend, seed distribution,

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe study on population dynamic and  roosting trees damage by flying fox was conducted for 16 months (March 2008-June 2009) in Bogor Botanical Garden.  Recording of individual flying fox was carried out by use direct observation in the roosting trees habitat at 9.00-15.00, with one replication every week. The result indicated that in 2008 the total flying fox were 420 individuals and in 2009 were 563 individuals (160 juveniles, 218 adult females and 185 adult males). The natality and mortality rate in this location is 0.0214 and 0.0099 respectively. The flying fox population growth can be predicted using exponential equation is N(t+1)=563(1.8395)t.  The study also indicated that in the KRB there are 9 individual trees which are the main perch, 2 individual trees of Pterodotus alata, Pterocarpus indicus, and Shorea leprosula, and each 1 individual tree of the species  Dipterocarpus cornutus, Ficus drupacea, and Syzygium syzygioides. The extent of damage to the tree where the perch is very dependent on the diameter of the canopy, bat population size in one tree, and time periods per roosting season.  Keywords: Population Dynamic, Flying Fox (Pteropus vampyrus), Bogor Botanical Garden
