Abstract

Rats are mammals that are very detrimental and disrupt human life and welfare. Leptospirosis is one of the emerging infectious diseases caused by Leptospira bacteria. One of the factors that influence the existence of mice is environmental factors. In Sekar Jaya Village, the working area of the Sekar Jaya Community Health Center, OKU Regency is a densely populated area, which can be seen in terms of house buildings and the position of residents' houses, most of which are close to each other. In several houses there were signs of mice. This research aims to determine the sanitation analysis of the home environment with the presence of rat vectors in Sekar Jaya Village, Sekar Jaya Health Center UPTD Working Area, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency in 2023. The research design is Cross Sectional. The population of all heads of families in Sekar Jaya Village is 2,373 heads of families with a sample size of 331 respondents. The statistical test used is the chi square test. Univariate analysis showed that 186 (56.2%) respondents had no rat vectors in their homes, 189 (57.1%) respondents with trash bin conditions met the requirements, 182 (55%) respondents with SPAL conditions met the requirements and As many as 173 (52.3%) respondents had no food waste. The results of the bivariate analysis revealed that the variables were trash can condition with a p value of 0.000, SPAL condition with a p value of 0.002, and food waste disposal with a p value of 0.000. There is a significant relationship between the condition of the trash can, the condition of the SPAL, and the disposal of food waste and the presence of rat vectors in Sekar Jaya Village.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a serious reproductive health issue for women, especially in Indonesia. Early detection through methods such as IVA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) and pap smear is crucial to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates of cervical cancer. However, the coverage of early detection in Indonesia remains low, including in Muara Enim Regency. Education on early detection of cervical cancer is needed to increase the knowledge and awareness of women of childbearing age (WUS). This study aims to determine the effect of education on early detection of cervical cancer on the knowledge of women of childbearing age in Lubuk Empelas Village, working area of Muara Enim City Health Center. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest design approach. The sample consisted of 64 women of childbearing age selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires before and after education using the audio-visual method. Data analysis was performed using the paired t-test. The results showed a significant increase in the knowledge of women of childbearing age after receiving education. The average knowledge score before education (pre-test) was 4.0625, while after education (post-test) it increased to 7.5156. The statistical test results showed a p-value = 0.000, indicating a significant effect of education on increasing knowledge. Education on early detection of cervical cancer using the audio-visual method significantly increased the knowledge of women of childbearing age in Lubuk Empelas Village. It is recommended that the Muara Enim City Health Center enhance health promotion efforts using audio-visual media to increase public awareness and knowledge about early detection of cervical cancer.

Abstract

Flies are disease vectors that can cause health problems, especially in environments with poor sanitation. Inadequate waste management in traditional markets can increase fly populations, potentially leading to disease outbreaks. This study aims to analyze the relationship between waste management systems (storage, collection, and transportation) and the fly population index in Pasar Baru Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency. This study used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 150 traders in Pasar Baru Baturaja, with a sample of 60 respondents selected using Stratified Random Sampling. Data were collected through interviews with questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 80% of respondents had a high fly population index. 86.7% of respondents did not meet the requirements for waste storage, 73.3% for waste collection, and 70% for waste transportation. There was a significant relationship between waste storage (p-value = 0.004), collection (p-value = 0.007), and transportation (p-value = 0.009) with the fly population index. Poor waste management systems, particularly in storage, collection, and transportation, contribute to the high fly population in Pasar Baru Baturaja. Improvements in waste management infrastructure, such as providing separate, watertight, and covered waste bins, are needed. Additionally, regular monitoring and socialization by market management are necessary to increase traders' awareness of maintaining environmental cleanliness.
