Abstract

AbstractSanitation and environmental health are complex problems facing Indonesia today. If these problems are not addressed immediately, this will certainly have an impact on sanitation and environmental health in the settlements themselves, such as the emergence of germs. So this literature review aims to describe the description and handling strategies of slums settlements in Batang Arau Village, Padang City regarding sanitation and environmental health. The method used is qualitative and literature review. The results of the study show that the settlements in Batang Arau Village, Padang City have mild, medium, and large slums sanitation categories. The environment street and drinking water supply are in the low category. The medium category includes buildings, waste water management, and solid waste management. While environmental drainage and fire protection are included in the large category. The handling strategy that can be taken to deal with these slums settlements are to carry out a socialization program in the form of the Kotaku Program, create an environment-based slums settlement concept, carry out a community empowerment/ human resources (HR) strategy, carry out sustainable slums management, and carry out area management plans settlement. If this strategy is carried out, it will reduce slum settlements in the PadangCity. Keywords: Batang Arau Village, environmental health, slums, sanitation, handling strategies

Abstract

Environmental problems in Indonesia are very diverse, including those related to coastal and marine management. The main problem in coastal and marine management is that beach reclamation and sand mining activities are likely to have an impact on the environment, especially marine ecosystems and coastal communities. The existing problem of sand mining and beach reclamation has had a negative impact on coastal ecosystems and communities around the coast. The purpose of this study is to describe (1) Coastal and Marine Management in a Case Study of the Impact of Beach Reclamation and Sand Mining on Marine Ecosystems and Coastal Communities. (2) Knowing the management efforts that can be carried out in minimizing the negative impacts of sand mining and beach reclamation activities. The research location was carried out in coastal areas in Indonesia through observations from case studies of previous journals. This observation was carried out from September 2021 to December 2021. The research methodology is based on previous literature studies. The type of research used in this research is Literary Study or Library Research. The data source comes from Google Scholar and the data collection method is a qualitative method in the form of literature review (document analysis). The results of this study indicate that the existence of an overview of environmental management in the presence of mine reclamation activities has an impact on the damage caused by reclamation. The problems of sand mining and beach reclamation have had a negative impact on coastal ecosystems and communities around the coast. It also contains efforts that can be made in overcoming and minimizing environmental problems.

Abstract

The decline in water quality is caused by pollution pressure due to low environmental sanitation efforts. Water quality can be determined by carrying out certain tests on the water. This research was conducted on the Batang Ombilin River, Sawahlunto City. This research was conducted in October 2022. This research used survey methods and laboratory test methods. Activities carried out using the survey method are in the form of interviews related to research. Next, laboratory test methods are used to analyze water quality. Interview activities were carried out with people living around the Batang Ombilin River. Respondents were determined using random sampling. Samples were taken of 2 liters of water and carried using plastic bottles. The parameters used to see water quality are TDS, TSS, pH, DO, BOD and COD. Based on research that has been carried out, the results show that 65.25% of respondents stated that the existing water is suitable for consumption but must be filtered and purified first before cooking. Meanwhile, 30.75% of respondents stated that it was not suitable for consumption because the water was cloudy, dirty and smelly. Furthermore, in the water quality analysis, the average value of the TDS parameter was obtained with an average value of 108. TSS obtained an average value of 29.1. The pH got an average value of 8.1. DO got an average score of 7.3. BOD got an average score of 1.4 and COD got an average score of 15.2. From the results of tests carried out at 3 different points, an average value was obtained below the established class 2 water quality standards
