Abstract

The use of microbial antagonists is one alternative to reduce the rate of a population of pathogenic fungi. This study aims to determine the ability of an antagonist of the bacteria Proteus penneri and Enterobacter hormaechei isolated from spores Endomikoriza types Glomus sp. with fungal pathogens. The research object is a pathogenic fungus that comes from the seed Pometia pinnata, Pterocarpus indicus and Aquilaria filaria. Test antagonists using Varese et al (1996) by observing the inhibition of bacterial to fungal pathogens tested. The results showed that the percent inhibition of bacteria against fungi P. penneri follow Pometia pinnata seed of 56.11%, Pterocarpus indicus 28.70% and 30.56% Aquilaria filaria. Testing bacteria E. hormaechei generating percent inhibition of fungus P. pinnata seed followup of 18.56%, P. indicus  46.85% and  A. filaria 32.41%. Inhibition of pathogenic bacteria in the fungus P. penneri ultimate origin of P. pinnata seed and the lowest in P. indicus. Whereas inhibition of pathogenic bacteria E. hormaechei highest on fungal origin P. indicus and lowest seed in P.pinnata.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT The role of forests as maintaining ecological balance is very important, however, this condition is always influenced by the threat of deforestation and degradation. Both are environmental problems that are a challenge for all regions on Papua Island, including the forests of Warmare District in Manokwari Regency. The threats and challenges of deforestation and forest degradation in the Warmare region could expand significantly if not addressed properly. Therefore, reforestation efforts are needed to minimize these problems. Greening activities were carried out at the TNI Army Complex, Infantry Battalion 761/KA Warmare, Warmare District, Manokwari Regency. The demonstration method used in this activity was planting 1035 plant seeds in prepared locations of 9 types. The 22 participants in this activity came from the Faculty of Forestry and the Indonesian Army Infantry Battalion 761/KA Warmare. Greening activities ran well and smoothly because all participants were able to participate and be actively involved. Keywords: conservation, environment, forest, reforestation, and Warmare.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems are invaluable coastal habitats that provide essential ecological services and support diverse flora and fauna. However, human activities have increasingly threatened the sustainability of these ecosystems, particularly in regions like Coastal Sulawesi, Indonesia. This qualitative analysis investigates the impact of human activities on mangrove conservation in Coastal Sulawesi, employing semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The study reveals that drivers such as aquaculture expansion, unsustainable logging, pollution, and coastal development are contributing to mangrove degradation. Stakeholder perspectives vary, with local communities emphasizing the importance of mangroves for livelihoods and culture, while government officials stress the need for balancing conservation with economic development. Existing conservation efforts include protected area designation, community-based management projects, and awareness-raising campaigns. Collaborative action involving government, NGOs, academia, and local communities is essential to promote sustainable mangrove conservation in Coastal Sulawesi.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Forests and humans have a mutually influential relationship, where forest sustainability is highly dependent on human awareness in managing and utilizing it wisely to support shared welfare. Forest conservation efforts require community participation, especially the younger generation, through outreach and education that can foster awareness and skills to maintain the sustainability of the ecological and economic functions of forests, such as those carried out at SMK Avent Sausapor. This outreach activity aims to educate students about the importance of forest conservation and the impact of forest damage on the environment, as well as encourage them to apply forest conservation practices in their daily lives. The method in this outreach uses lecture and discussion methods as one form of community education method. This outreach has succeeded in increasing participants' understanding of the importance of protecting forests and the environment. The evaluation results showed that 87,6% participants felt inspired and more aware of their responsibilities in preserving nature. Keywords: green future; outreach activities; protecting forests; and Tambrauw regency;
