Abstract

This study analyzes the role of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as entrepreneurship incubators in rural areas of Indonesia. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, this research examined 15 BUMDes in West Java, Central Java, and East Java from 2022-2024. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 45 respondents, participatory observation, and document analysis. Results show that BUMDes play a significant role in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among village communities through providing capital access, business training, and business mentoring. Of the 65,941 BUMDes registered nationally, 75.8% are actively operating and have created 142,000 new jobs. BUMDes functioning as entrepreneurship incubators increased village income by an average of 35% and reduced village poverty rates by up to 12%. Abstract

Perum DAMRI, a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) in the transportation sector, faces the challenge of balancing public service obligations (PSO) with financial sustainability. Empirical conditions indicate a high dependence on regular transportation revenue and government subsidies, alongside a relatively high leverage structure and vulnerable liquidity position. Ideally, the company is expected to achieve sustainable profitability with a sound financial structure. This discrepancy forms the basis for analyzing the determinants of profitability. This study aims to examine the simultaneous and partial effects of regular transportation revenue, government subsidies, leverage (Debt to Equity Ratio/DER), and liquidity (Current Ratio/CR) on profitability (Return on Assets/ROA). A quantitative approach with an explanatory method is employed using monthly time series data over an eight-year period (2017–2024), sourced from the audited financial and annual reports of Perum DAMRI. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with EViews 13, preceded by classical assumption tests and logarithmic transformation of revenue variables. The results show that all independent variables simultaneously have a significant effect on ROA (Prob(F-statistic) = 0.000000; R² = 0.7979). Partially, regular transportation revenue and government subsidies have a positive and significant effect, leverage (DER) has a significant negative effect, while liquidity (CR) has a positive and significant effect on profitability.

Abstract

In the context of domestic supply-side constraints and fluctuating global demand, the Indonesian processed wood export sector is confronted with substantial obstacles. Although Indonesia has sizable forest resources, the export performance of processed timber products has varied significantly among provinces between 2016 and 2024, as a result of a variety of logistical and production factors. The objective of this investigation is to evaluate the export performance of Indonesian processed wood products in the context of domestic processed wood production, forestry and wood processing investment, educated labor in the forestry sector, and logistics infrastructure. Panel data regression analysis is implemented in the investigation. The sample was comprised of 11 provinces in Indonesia that were observed annually from 2015 to 2024. The data was obtained from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, and Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The results of the panel data regression indicate that domestic processed wood production, forestry and wood processing investment, educated labor in the forestry sector, and logistics infrastructure simultaneously have a significant effect on the export performance of processed wood products. Partially, each independent variable also demonstrates a significant and positive influence on export performance. These findings suggest that increasing domestic production capacity, attracting investment to the forestry sector, developing a skilled workforce, and improving logistics infrastructure are key determinants in enhancing Indonesia's competitiveness in global processed wood markets

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in underdeveloped regions face difficulties accessing financing through conventional banking institutions. This study analyzes a hybrid financing model that combines financial technology (fintech) with microfinance institutions to improve financial inclusion in underdeveloped areas. The research method uses a quantitative approach with secondary data analysis from the Financial Services Authority and field surveys of 150 MSMEs in five underdeveloped provinces. Research results show that the hybrid model can increase financing access by 65% compared to conventional systems. Fintech-MFI collaboration reduces operational costs by up to 40% and accelerates credit approval processes from 14 days to 3 days. This model proves effective in reaching unbankable segments with a 92% repayment rate. Research recommendations include strengthening regulations, improving digital literacy, and developing technology infrastructure in underdeveloped regions.
