Abstract

One of the ethnic groups in Indonesia is Chinese, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2010, the number of ethnic Chinese in Indonesia reached 2.83 million or around 1.2% of the total population in Indonesia. Cheng Beng is a tradition carried out by Chinese people to respect their ancestors by visiting pilgrimages or praying on the ashes, one of which is located in Rantau Prapat, Labuhan Batu Regency, North Sumatra Province. This tradition is carried out so that all close relatives, siblings, children, can gather and further strengthen the relationship and preserve the traditions of the ancestors.               Communication ethnography was used in this study because researchers collected descriptive data and analysis of how social meanings were used and how communication behaviors were the actions or activities of the Rantau Prapat community in the Cheng Beng tradition. The focus of this study discusses the practices of communication, events and communication actions related to Cheng Beng's rituals. This research method uses descriptive qualitative with ethnographic communication approach that starts from observation, interviews, documentation and the participation of researchers in witnessing the procession of the Cheng Beng tradition. The informants in this study consisted of 1 monk, 1 monasteries, 2 people from the Chinese community and 1 family consisting of 5 people who carried out the Cheng Beng tradition.               The results of this study show the communicative situation of the Cheng Beng tradition comprising the location of this tradition, Cheng Beng and the participants who carried out the tradition. This tradition is carried out in the cemetery. The communicative events of the Cheng Beng tradition include the value, message and purpose of the tradition. The values adopted in this tradition are cultural values even though they are not escaped from rituals like Confucian beliefs. The message to be conveyed in this tradition is to commemorate the kindness of their parents, ancestors and ancestors. Communicative acts of the Cheng Beng tradition verbally cannot be disclosed in this study due to its very special and sacred character by Chinese ethnicity while nonverbal acts include equipment equipment as a medium in this ritual in the form of: (Incense, Candles, Five-Color Paper or Hereafter Money) which has its own meaning and meaning.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a very diverse culture. The intercultural interactions that occur among people of different cultures are not easy. This is because of differences such as language, tradition, customs, customs, moral values, ethics, religion, and so forth. Usually people living in different cultural communities tend to adapt or accommodate their opposite cultures. In the process of communications accommodation, there are three common strategies in society when interacting. Namely the strategy of Convergence, Divergences and over-accomodation. This study aims to determine the forms of these strategies in the interaction between cultures Ocu tribe with the Java Tribe in the Village South Pongkai Siberuang Koto Kampar Hulu District Kampar regency.This research uses descriptive qualitative method with symbolic interaction approach and using observation data collection technique, interview and documentation. Technique of examination of data with triangulation technique. Allows researchers to recheck their findings by comparing them with different sources, methods or theories.The result of the research shows that Convergence strategy done by citizens of Ocu and Suku Jawa tribe is using the native language of the speaker while speaking with the original dialect of the culture of the other person. In the case of this language, the Javanese tribe more often converges the Ocu tribe. not paying attention to the distance at the moment of communication with the opponent. In terms of cultural values, the tribe Ocu follow the customs of the Javanese people in making an event like a feast and a wedding party. Divergensi strategy is to use a different language with the language of his opponent. avoiding touch among the opposite sex. Not trying to learn the language of the opponent. Divergences in terms of cultural values, when the Javanese choose to keep the Javanese tradition in every event held even though Pongkai is famous for its strict customs. Last Form of excessive accommodation that is When they joke and mock each other's language.

Abstract

The phenomenon of esteem as if it were the priority needs of today’s society. The society, especially young people, need something new to meet the need for satisfaction. The GenPI West Sumatera Community formed by Tourism Department RI was present in the society and initiated a digital destination called Pasar Siti Nurbaya. Pasar Siti Nurbaya as the concept of a new tourist destination in West Sumatera serves to facilitate the society to fulfill esteem by offering attractive selfie photo spots, traditional Minangkabau culinary and regional dance art performances. This study aims to find out how digital destinations, positioning strategies, differentiation, destination branding and tourism marketing communication strategies are carried out by The GenPI West Sumatera Community in promoting the Siti Nurbaya market destination brand.This study used qualitative research methods. The research subjects were eight people who were selected using purposive techniques, the main informants in this study amounted to 4 people from The GenPI West Sumatera Community and 2 people from the West Sumatra Provincial Tourism Office and 2 people from the society as supporting informants. Data collection is done through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques by reducing data, collecting data, presenting data, drawing conclusions and evaluations by using data validity checking techniques are extended participation and triangulation.The results of this study indicate that the form of digital destinations that the GenPI West Sumatra Community adheres to uses the market concept called Pasar Siti Nurbaya. Whereas the destination positioning consists of targets, namely "Kids Zaman Now", promotional media, namely social media and the tagline, "Pasar Zaman Now". Differentiation of destinations is an Instagramable destination. Branding destination consists of a logo brand, brand name, namely Siti Nurbaya, brand tagline, the "Pasar Zaman Now". The GenPI Community Tourism Marketing Communication Strategy in West Sumatra uses the marketing communication mix theory consisting of using media as a means of promotion and participating in various events around tourism.Keyword: Marketing communication, tourism, brand, digital, destination.

Abstract

Nowadays communication becomes an important thing in marketing because it can strengthen the strategy of marketing of Sea Forest Adventure Nuvasa Bay by PT. Sinar Mas Land. Sea Forest Adventure is a program from Nuvasa Bay Batam where is a place to play and have vacation with family. This place previously who named as Palm Spring has transformed into a modern tourist attraction with additional facilities and expanded the play area. As one of the vacation place, Sea Forest Adventure Nuvasa Bay PT. Sinar Mas Land also has some competitors who engaged in the same field, so it need some strategy to achieve the goal to knowing the marketing strategy of communication that Sea Forest Adventure Nuvasa Bay PT. Sinar Mas Land, and to find out Segmentation, Targeting, Positioning and Social Media that used by Sea Forest Adventure.This research uses descriptive qualitative method, which is collecting the data and obtained based on the reality of the data in the field through the observation, interviews and documentation. The informants in this research were: one (1) of HR Manager member, one (1) of Sales Manager Coordinator, two (2) of marketings, one (1) of ticketing, one (1) of marketing communication, and four (4) visitors to support this research. The data analysis is usedthe interactive model by Huberman and Miles, this technique is for checking the validity of data through triangulation and the extension of participation.The results showed that the marketing strategy communication of Sea Forest Adventure Nuvasa Bay PT. Sinar Mas Land was done by using segmentation, targeting and positioning strategies. It also refers to the 4P marketing with mix concept, namely : Product, Price, Place and Promotion. Sea Forest Adventure products provide some rides who divided into 3 namely : Water Adventure, Lamd Adventure and Multi fanction Yards. Water adventure consists of Aqua Track Adventure, jet ski, banana boat, knee boarding, canoe and ,mangrove tour. Sea forest adventure provides promo package which there are two rides combined that is more cheaper than buying a ticket with just one ride. The location of Sea Forest Adventure is located on Jl.Hang Lekui Nongsa sub-district which is located faraway from the urban areas so it’s suitable for a vacation. The staff of Sea Forest Adventure has promotes this place through various way such as social meida and brochures. Abstract

Ruma Bolon is a traditional house of Batak Toba that is full of symbols and meanings, used by Batak Toba ethnic community as a guideline for life, ideals and hope. In Batak Toba ethnic houses (Ruma Bolon) There are aspects of symbols that have certain meanings represented by the form of houses, materials used to make houses, the arrangement of space on the house (cosmology), and ornaments carved art Batak Toba Ethnic House (Gorga). This research aims to determine the meaning of symbols in Batak Toba ethnic house, as well as to know the shift or change in the traditional house of Batak Toba ethnic in Samosir Regency  This research uses qualitative research methods with a symbolic interaction approach. This research informant is a figure of ethnic Batak Toba culture, indigenous people, the caretaker of Batak Toba ethnic house in Samosir Regency, and the community that occupies the traditional house as a home of residence chosen by the technique of Purposive. The data collection techniques undertaken are through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the interactive analysis model by Miles and Huberman.            The results of this study showed that the meaning of symbols in Batak Toba ethnic house in Samosir Regency can be seen through the form of the house, the material used to make the house, the arrangement of space on the house, and ornaments art carving (Gorga) at the traditional Batak ethnic house Toba. The shift in Batak Toba ethnic house in Samosir Regency can be seen from two aspects, namely the physical aspect of the building and the social aspect of tradition or ceremony in building a house, shifting to the physical aspects of the house include shifting to the form of Traditional Batak Toba ethnic house becomes modern, Ruma Epper, a shift in the material used in Batak Toba ethnic houses from traditional to modern, as well as a shift in carved art ornaments (Gorga) from carving into relief . Abstract

Intercultural communication especially the way a person face negotiates in an environment with cultural differences is an interesting phenomenon in the midst of the people of Kuala Kilan Village. People from different cultures have their own way of looking at the identities of others. So, face negotiations and adjustments are needed so that the two cultures can unite and can know the need for faces to be displayed in a social environment. The purpose of this study is to determine self-identity, conflict management and the impact of cultural behavior in intercultural communication between Javanese transmigrants and Malay local residents in the Kuala Kilan Village Batang Cenaku District Indragiri Hulu Regency Riau.This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This research uses face negotiation theory. This research was carried out in Kuala Kilan Village, Batang Cenaku District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau. The reason for choosing a location in Kuala Kilan Village, Batang Cenaku Subdistrict is to find out whether the relationship between the transmigrant (Javanese) community and the local population (Malay) runs harmoniously or if there are conflicts or obstacles that occur. The withdrawal of informants from this study was determined using the Purposive technique. Collection techniques in this study were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation.The results of this study indicate that the face negotiations that occur between Javanese transmigrants and their local Malay residents manage the faces or identities that they will display to maintain their dignity in the social environment. They manage intercultural communication conflicts by accepting, combining, appreciating, respecting, learning each other's opposing cultures and positive attitudes that are adapted to situations and conditions to resolve existing problems between Javanese migrants and local Malays. Therefore, the actions that are displayed through cultural behavior between Javanese transmigrants and their local Malay population can adapt well and mutual tolerance. The results of research conducted by researchers that in the village of Kuala Kilan between the people of the village of Kuala Kilan they can negotiate their self-image or self-identity. and Javanese societies have adapted, accepted the differences, united the two cultures, the two tribes live in harmony, respect each other and can coexist. Keywords: Face Negotiation, Intercultural Communication, Javanese Society, Malay Society.

Abstract

The population increase of Pekanbaru City is very important for housing demand. Property businesses invest to building housing. Increasing home business is also followed by competition from various developers, competitive prices, quality, quantity of developers, and strategic location. Property entrepreneurs must have creative promotional ideas to attract customers. Based on that?s many property companies in Pekanbaru City, establishing Citraland Housing in Pekanbaru can be used to increase sales value. Therefore researchers are interested in researching with the objectives of the Marketing Communication Strategy of PT. Ciputra Symphony with Personal Selling Activities to increase the sales value of Citraland Pekanbaru Housing.This research is using qualitative methods. It?s collecting data from the field with observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects are 1 marketing head, 3 marketing people, 3 customers and 2 prospective customers of Citraland Pekanbaru. It was chosen based on purposive sampling technique and using analysis techniques of interactive data, while data validity checking techniques with extended participation and triangulation.The results of this research first, prospecting is a promotional activity such as exhibitions, canvasing and collaborating with bank partners. Second, an approach to know how start communication to make a good relationship, as well as inviting prospective customers and customers to a Galadinner event and gathering Citraland Pekanbaru Housing. Third, presentation and demonstration are making sales presentations. Fourth, handling objection used with a positive approach, found hidden rejection and asking buyer to explain each reason of rejection. Fifth is closing, Citraland helps the process of purchase administration.

Abstract

Abstract

Lack of employee health concern affects performance in getting optimal results. To support it, PT. Telecommunication Indonesia Tbk, Pekanbaru provides facilities in the form of Healthy Paradigm 4P program to improve healthy lifestyle of employees is a program of Health Foundation Telkom Center of Healthy Diet, Healthy Activity Pattern, Healthy Mindset and Healthy Spiritual Pattern. This study aims to determine the form of health communication, health communication barriers and health communication media at PT. Telecommunication Indonesia Tbk, Pekanbaru This research uses qualitative method with descriptive approach. Research subjects amounted to 7 people. With research object health communication unit Human Resource Development (HRD) in improving healthy lifestyle of employees through 4P health paradigm program at PT. Telecommunication Indonesia Tbk, Pekanbaru. Data collection techniques use observation, interview and documentation. While the data analysis techniques using qualitative data analysis with the presentation of descriptive analysis according to Huberman and Miles. And examination techniques validity of data by extension of participation and triangulation. The results of the research show that the 4P Health Paradigm program is conducting Health Communication from the Human Resource Development (HRD) unit in improving the healthy lifestyle of employees through the 4P Health Paradigm program at PT. Telecommunication Indonesia Tbk, Pekanbaru seen through the form of communication is the form of interpersonal communication, group communication and organizational communication. Human Resource Development (HRD) units use media such as websites, emails, phones, banners, and brochures. The 4P's Healthy Paradigm Program Process has barriers that come from sources and employees.

Abstract

In this modern era with the developments of technology, gambling has been transformed from traditional gambling to online gambling. Based on the preliminary research. It was found that there were online poker gambling games used by gamers (the term for computer game players) for gambling activities. It is carried out by the gamers and it also has affect to other people around them. The focus of this research activity is the conformity of online in this poker groups in to internet station. it is located in Tampan sub-district, Pekanbaru City.The research methodology used qualitative descriptive, in indicting the data the research used interviews, observation and documentation. Informants were by using purposive sampling technique. While to again the validity in this by using source triangulation.Based on the results of the study it can be seen that the online poker gambling players in two internet station in Tampan District because of the interaction and communication carried out by fellow internet users. Among them are the imitators, individual desires, group cohesiveness, belief in friend and desire to be likened to other members, invitations from a environmental factors, aswell as profit factors obtained.This conformity occurs through a communication process where there is an exchange of information between gamers in internet station.
