Abstract

Stunting has become a concern that attracts the attention of health leaders worldwide. Stunting is defined as a condition wherein a child experiences chronic inadequacy of nutrition consumption that leads them to growing slower than the others their age, manifested clearly in their height. Stunting leads to a lot of disadvantages not only for the child, but also to the family, and even further to the country’s future economy. Indonesia has been found to have a number of stunting prevalence higher than what has been determined by the World Health Organization. Mothers play a great role in preventing stunting from spreading even further. The aim of this study is focused on measuring the knowledge of the mothers with toddlers about stunting and how a community health education done regarding the topic concerned can influence their fore knowledge. This study is done in the design of quantitative method, using the pretest-posttest control group design. The health education is given to mothers with toddlers living in a village named Karyawangi in West Bandung, Indonesia. The result shows that there is a positive impact found towards the knowledge of the participants before and after the health education is given. The scoring of the pre- and post- test shows a positive difference, leading to a higher value. It is then recommended that health education on stunting needs to be done more frequently to raise the awareness of mothers in regards of reducing the number of children with stunting.

Abstract

Abstract Nursing students have the potential for violence in places where they carry out their clinical practice, both in hospitals and in communities. The competence of nursing students needs to be reviewed to see their readiness before, time, and after events. This study aims to measure the competence of students of the profession nurse (Ners) to face violence at hospitals. The study is a descriptive quantitative study, with a sample number of 55 students of the profession nurse. The analysis using the management questionnaire of genealogical violence scale (MWVCS) indicates that students of the profession have a high level of competence and a high level of competence. The factors that indicate very high competence are 'after the violence in the hospital' and 'the interactions between nurses and patients. While the factors that indicate high competence are 'response to violence', 'cognitive to violence', 'exploiting facilities of protection', 'improving knowledge', and 'risk assessment'. Nursing education needs to prepare the student to anticipate a violent episode and teach them how to anticipate the violence. Keywords: Competency factors, nursing students, workplace violence Abstrak Mahasiswa keperawatan memiliki potensi mengalami kekerasan di tempat dimana mereka melaksanakan praktik klinisnya, baik di rumah sakit maupun di komunitas. Kompetensi mahasiswa perawat perlu dikaji untuk melihat kesiapan mereka sebelum, saat dan sesudah kejadian. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur tingkat kompetensi mahasiswa profesi Ners dalam menghadapi tindakan kekerasan di rumah sakit. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif, dengan jumlah sampel 55 orang mahasiswa profesi Ners. Hasil analisa dengan menggunakan kuesioner Management of Workplace Violence Competence Scale (MWVCS), menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa profesi Ners memiliki tingkat kompetensi tinggi dan sangat tinggi. Faktor yang menunjukan kompetensi sangat tinggi adalah faktor ‘setelah terjadi kekerasan di rumah sakit’ dan ‘interakasi antara perawat dan pasien’. Sedangkan faktor yang menunjukkan kompetensi tinggi adalah faktor ‘respon terhadap kekerasan’, ‘kognitif terhadap kekerasan’, ‘pemanfaatan fasilitas perlindungan’, ‘pembaharuan pengetahuan’, dan ‘pengkajian resiko’. Pendidikan keperawatan perlu mempersiapkan mahasiswanya dalam mengantisipasi kejadian kekerasan dan mengajarkan mereka cara mengantisipasi kejadian kekerasan tersebut.
