Abstract

Jatropha oil which is non-edible oil were hydro-crack at atmospheric pressure using an activated wood char catalyst in a fixed bed reactor. The hydro-cracking process was carried out at three temperature variations of 400, 450 and 500oC, and three variations of the oil feed injection rate of 2/2, 2/5 and 2 mL/10 minutes. The catalysts were characterized using SEM and BET. The composition of the liquid product obtained from the hydro-cracking process was analyzed using GC-MS. The effects of operating temperature and oil feed injection rate on oil recovery and conversion have been discussed. The results showed that the feed injection temperature and rate had an effect on the yield and conversion. The highest yield of 59.8% oil liquid products was achieved at a temperature of 450oC with injection rate of 2 mL/10 min. The composition of the oil-liquid product was dominated by heptanal at 32.9% -mass. Alkanes group contain C5 to C20 and alkene compounds consist of C8 until C18.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of sheep manure and EM4 in composting procces duration using Takakura Methods. The research conducted in laboratory scale using cabbage waste from the nearest market in Cimahi. Another variation are the concentration of sheep manure (10% and 30%) and EM4 (10 ml and 15 ml). There are four samples were done in this study, A (cabbage waste+10% sheep manure +10 ml  EM4), B (cabbage waste+ 30% sheep manure+ 10 ml EM4), C (cabbage waste+10% sheep manure + 15 ml EM4), D(cabbage waste+30% sheep manure+15 ml EM4.) Expectations of this study was produced compost that meets the quality standard of organic fertilizers based on SNI 19-7030-2004 such as C/N ratio, pH, and temperature.The results showed that cabbage waste can be composted after 20 days, its faster than the conventional composting technique. All the samples at the end of composting procces has pH 7, temperature 260C, blackish brown color, and a slight smell of soil. The C/N ratio in each sample is 9,7 (A), 9 (B), 7,43 (C), 8,67 (D). A sample has a value close to the quality standard of organic fertilizers based on SNI 19-7030-2004.

Abstract

Ubi kayu dapat  diolah menjadi tepung ubi kayu untuk meningkatkan ketahanan pangan nasional. Tepung mocaf merupakan produk tepung hasil modifikasi dengan fermentasi menggunakan mikroorganisme. Tepung mocaf memiliki potensi sebagai pengganti  tepung terigu. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ragi terhadap karakteristik tepung mocaf yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode fermentasi dengan ragi. Adapun jenis ragi yang digunakan adalah ragi tape dan ragi roti. Ubi kayu diiris tipis dengan ketebalan ± 1 mm. Perbandingan ubi kayu terhadap air sebesar 1 : 2 (b/v). Waktu fermentasi selama 6, 12, dan 18 jam. Konsentrasi ragi yang ditambahkan sebesar 1% dan 2% (b/v) terhadap bahan baku ubi kayu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tepung mocaf terbaik didapatkan dari proses fermentasi menggunakan ragi roti, dengan kadar air 5,27%, kadar abu 0,15%, derajat putih 93,18, swelling power 17,58, dan viskositas pada suhu 300C dan 650C sebesar 0,0759 cP dan 0,00616 cP. Seluruh hasil pengujian telah memenuhi Standar Mutu Tepung Mocaf SNI 1722 : 2011.
