Abstract

Bolus is a material that has properties similar to body tissues and is used to maximize the absorbed dose on the skin surface. The purpose of this research was to determine the most optimal treatment to kill fibrosarcoma on the patient’s skin surface by comparing the isodose curve and the value of the radiation absorption dose on the physical bolus (from CT-Scan) and model bolus (TPS). This study used data in the form of bolus images (with a bolus thickness of 0 cm, 0.5 cm and 1.0 cm) and phantom image. Then the data was processed with Treatment Planning System (TPS) and given energy variations in the form of electrons (10 MeV, 12 MeV, dan 15 MeV) and photons (6 MV and 10 MV). The result of this research was an isodosis curve that describes the distribution of the dose and the value of the absorbed dose of radiation received by the skin surface. The conclusion of this research is a bolus thickness of 0,5 cm and an electron energy of 15 MeV, has more even isodose curve (covering the entire tumor) and the maximum absorption dose value were 5720 cGy for physical bolus and 5710 cGy for TPS bolus.

Abstract

Research of the relationship between electrical conductivity and the concentration of table salt solution in several brands of table salt, namely brand A, brand B and brand C, has been done. Electrical conductivity () is used as the dependent variable, while concentration (C) is used as the independent variable. The concentration values are 0.1%, 0.2%, …, 0.7% for each brand of table salt. Measurements of electrical conductivity using a tool Conductivity Metertype pH/EC-983. Next, the average of the result of the measurements of electrical conductivity (σ ̅) are plotted against the concentration (C) of the table salt solution for the each brand of table salt, where each of the result is a straight line (linear) that it has a positive gradient/slope, that is σ ̅=(1360000C+694)µS/cm for brand A table salt, σ ̅=(1315300C+644)µS/cm brand B table salt and σ ̅=(1281700C+566)µS/cmfor brand C table salt. It seems that the gradient/slope of the straight lines in the various brands of table salt is almost the same, which it means that in general the content of ions in the various brands of legal table salt is relatively not much different. While the positive value of the gradient have the meaning that the higher the concentration of table salt solution, the higher the value of the electrical conductivity, which it is theoretically compatible with the physical concept.

Abstract

The research on the determining machine factor (k) of Shimadzu digital radiograph X-ray machine have been done at the RSUD Dr. Kanujoso Djatiwibowo Balikpapan. Machine factor should be required in the calculation of radiation exposure which produced by the X-ray machine. Measurement data that have been used as independent variables were current-time, focus distance to the detector and tube voltage variations of 80 kV to 100 kV, while the dependent variable was the S value. Determination of the k value was conducted by weighted linear regression between V2 and using the results of research by Seibert and Morin (2011) for the condition of calibrated X-ray machine. Thus, the reseach has obtained the machine factor of the Shimadzu digital radiograph X-ray machine at the RSUD Dr. Kanujoso Djatiwibowo Balikpapan.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the relationship between the level of sound intensity and the distance on region 1 and region 2 from a power generator set (genset) at the Dayaku Raja Hospital, Kota Bangun. The sound intensity level value (β) is used as the dependent variable and the distance value (d) is used as the independent variable. Measurement distance in region 1 is 7 meters, while in region 2 is 30 meters, where measurement space of β is 1 meter used Sound Level Meter. Furthermore, average of β plotted with the distance (d), which the distance from the outer surface of the gensets house wall to measurement point of β (region 1) and the distance from the inner surface of the halfway house wall to measurement point of β (region 2) which the longer of the distance the smaller β are produced, where the linier curves with negative gradient are produced, that is (-1,6dB/m)d + 71,9dB (region 1) dan β = (-0,2dB/m)d + 50,1dB (region 2). On the research, β is on the range of 60 dB to 70 dB on region 1 and 40 dB to 50 dB on region 2 are produced. Thus, β from a power generator (genset) at the Dayaku Raja Hospital Kota Bangun less than Noise Threshold Value based on Peraturan Menteri Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi No. 13/MEN/X/2011.

Abstract

ABSTRAKEnergi listrik merupakan kebutuhan dasar bagi masyarakat pada modern sekarang ini, dimana keberadaanya sangat mempengaruhi berbagai sendi kehidupan. Keterbasan dalam penyaluran energi listrik disebabkan oleh faktor geografis yang sulit dijangkau mempengaruhi peningkatan biaya investasi dalam pemasangan instalasi dan distribusi jaringan listrik. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini yaitu mengidentifikasi tingkat kebutuhan energi listrik dan memberikan sosialisasi serta penyuluhan kepada masyarakat mengenai Teknologi Tepat Guna (TTG) sel surya. Upaya yang dilakukan adalah dengan penerapan energi terbarukan melalui konversi sumber energi matahari menjadi energi listrik secara langsung yang merupakan solusi alternatif dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan energi listrik sehari-hari untuk daerah-daerah yang belum terjangkau jaringan listrik PLN. Metode yang digunakan untuk penerapan teknologi sel surya ini dilakukan melalui kegiatan pelatihan, penyuluhan dan pendampingan kepada masyarakat di sekitar Desa Muara Enggelam, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. Hasil dan kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat memperoleh wawasan dan kemampuan dalam mengoperasikan teknologi sel surya. Selain itu kegiatan ini juga menghasilkan prototipe Teknologi Tepat Guna (TTG) yang kompatibel, berdaya guna, dan mudah dioperasikan bagi pengguna listrik DC, AC dan gabungannya (DC+AC) untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan listrik sehari-hari. Penerapan jangka panjang dari prototipe TTG ini perlu dilakukan kajian, baik terkait kelayakan kinerja teknologi sel surya yang melibatkan banyak faktor maupun kajian kelayakan secara ekonomi terkait pembiayaan teknologi sel surya ini.           Kata kunci: : energi listrik; energi matahari; sel surya; prototipe TTG; kelayakan. ABSTRACTElectrical energy is a basic need for people in today's modern society, where its existence greatly affects various aspects of life. Limitations in the distribution of electrical energy caused by geographical factors that are difficult to reach affect the increase in investment costs in the installation and distribution of electricity networks. The purpose of this service is to identify the level of electrical energy needs and provide socialization and counseling to the community regarding appropriate technology (TTG) solar cells. The effort made is the application of renewable energy through the conversion of solar energy sources into electrical energy directly which is an alternative solution in meeting daily electrical energy needs for areas that have not been reached by the PLN electricity network. The method used for the application of solar cell technology is carried out through training, counseling and mentoring activities for the community around Muara Enggelam Village, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The results and activities showed that the community gained insight and ability to operate solar cell technology. In addition, this activity also produced a prototype of Appropriate Technology (TTG) that is compatible, effective, and easy to operate for users of DC, AC and combined electricity (DC + AC) to fulfill their daily electricity needs. The long-term application of this TTG prototype needs to be studied, both related to the feasibility of solar cell technology performance involving many factors and economic feasibility studies related to the financing of this solar cell technology. Keywords: electrical energy; solar energy; solar cell; TTG prototype; feasibility.

Abstract

Pengukuran besaran fisika adalah bagian yang sangat penting di dalam berbagai aplikasi ilmiah dan industri, dengan mempertimbangkan akurasi dan efisiensi sebagai bagian yang sangat penting. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini ditujukan khusus kepada Guru-Guru Sekolah Menengah Atas karena siswa pada tahapan tersebut dianggap mulai memiliki kesiapan untuk terlibat dalam dunia industri sehingga penting setiap Guru Fisika pada jenjang tersebut memiliki kemampuan yang cukup untuk diajarkan kepada peserta didik. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan adalah Metode pelatihan atau Training. Hasil dari pelatihan tersebut memberikan hasil berupa keterampilan kepada Guru Fisika menggunakan Sensor dan Mikrokontroller. Sistem pengukuran besaran fisika yang memanfaatkan sensor dan mikrokontroller sebagai komponen utama menawarkan kelebihan berupa akurasi yang tinggi, portabilitas, dan kemudahan dalam kalibrasi serta pemrograman ulang yang mudah cepat sesuai kebutuhan pengukuran.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the competence of high school physics teachers in East Kalimantan in using the Video Tracker software to support physics experiments. A total of 20 physics teachers participated with very high enthusiasm. The methods used in this activity included the Lecture Method, where participants were introduced to the basic theories and concepts of motion that can be analyzed using Video Tracker, the Demonstration Method, where the direct application of the software was shown to the participants, and the Assistance Method, where participants were guided step-by-step in conducting physics experiment simulations using Video Tracker. The results showed that teachers improved their skills in analyzing motion data using technology, which is expected to enrich the teaching process of physics in schools.

Abstract

As a consequence that geometrical optics (the eikonal equation) can be derived from Maxwell’s equations and Maxwell’s theory is nothing but an Abelian U(1) gauge theory, we propose that geometrical optics could also be treated as an Abelian U(1) gauge theory. We formulate geometrical optics as an Abelian U(1) gauge theory in a (3+1)-dimensional vacuum space-time as an approximation of the weak field. We show the explicit form of the phase, the gauge potential, and the field strength tensor related to the refractive index. We calculate numerically the refractive index and the magnetic field using the suitable parameters that we choose to mimic the real condition of nature. We obtain (without unit) the values of the refractive index  =1.0001 to represent a vacuum space-time and the amplitude ρ = 0.55853 related to magnitude of the magnetic field  = 0.10452 to represent the weak field.  The view of geometrical optics as gauge theory could be generalized or related to topological field theory where geometrical optics could have a topological structure in the case of the weak field.

We propose the existence of a topological object, a weak gravitational knot, in the framework of an Abelian Chern-Simons action with a small positive cosmological constant in (2+1)-dimensional empty space-time.
