Abstract

The background of this study is the lack of student's ability to write and the lack of teachers using media in narrative essay material. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of digital storytelling on the writing skills of fourth-grade students of SDN Sentul. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Research data collection techniques in the form of tests and documentation, the research subjects used were 20 fourth-grade students of SDN Sentul. The research assessment process uses a rubric of narrative essay writing skills that contains the content of ideas, organization of essay content, grammatical structure, diction, spelling, and punctuation. The results of the study obtained a significant value (2-tailed) worth 0.000 from the results of the one sample T-test, namely the Sig value of 0.000 <0.05 then H0 is rejected and for Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that digital story media affects the narrative essay writing skills of elementary school students. Thus, digital stories can be used as an alternative method in writing classes for teachers who are looking for media in the digital age.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi pendidikan karakter gemar membaca dikelas IV SDN Sumberejo 1 dan  Mendeskripsikan apa saja kendala yang dihadapi dalam implementasi pendidikan karakter gemar membaca dikelas 4 SDN Sumberejo 1. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskripif kualitatif. Subyek penelitian adalah Kepala Sekolah, Wali kelas IV, dan Siswa Kelas IV. Dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan untuk menciptakan siswa yang gemar membaca cara yang dilakukan seperti pembiasaan membaca selama 15 menit sebelum belajar, jadwal kunjungan ke perpustakaan setiap minggu, menciptakan lingkungan yang kaya akan teks bacaan, memberikan penghargaan terhadap perilaku positif siswa, memperbarui koleksi buku perpustakaan, serta mengadakan kegiatan membaca secara nyaring, membaca dalam hati, dan membaca bersama. Terdapat pula strategi literasi dalam pembelajaran, seperti membaca, bertanya jawab, merangkum, maju ke depan untuk membaca, dan menjawab soal latihan. sehinngga pelaksaan program gerakan literasi disesuaikan dengan tahapan yang ada pada buku panduan yang telah dibuat yaitu terdapat 3 tahapan diantaranya tahapan pembiasaan, tahapan pengembangan dan tahapan pembelajaran

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to address the challenges faced by Communication Science students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (Umsida) in mastering the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) by implementing an innovative learning medium, the interactive folktale video. Method: The program employed a structured approach consisting of initial observation, needs assessment, instructional design, implementation of training sessions, and post-intervention evaluation. Results: The findings indicate a significant improvement in students' TOEFL performance, particularly in the areas of listening comprehension, structure and written expression, and reading comprehension, following the integration of interactive folktale videos into their learning process. Novelty: The originality of this study lies in its unique combination of cultural narratives with interactive multimedia technology to enhance English language proficiency, providing a culturally relevant and engaging approach to TOEFL preparation rarely explored in existing literature.
