Abstract

Abstract

The distinctive shortage in the availability of skilled labor in new and renewable energy sector becomes the issue that has been prevented this country in achieving the national energy mix in 2015 and 2050. Although both formal and non-formal education initiatives already exist to foster new and renewable energy education, the number of graduates cannot outpace the number of required labor. The number of graduates and their competencies must be considered because local labors are facing intense competition with foreign labors due to ASEAN Economic Community policy. This research aims to find a solution to address the educational issue in new and renewable energy education. This research is using iterative methodology from the software engineering domain to identify issues and problems in new and renewable energy education in Indonesia and suggested alternatives to address it. Combination of techniques (questionnaire, interview, studying documentation, and research a similar product) is used in requirement elicitation stage in order to provide multiple perspectives.

Abstract

Indonesian government set the target for new and renewable energy (NRE) is expected to be 23% in 2025 and 31% in 2050, where in 2017, NRE was only 12,5%. Building a new and renewable energy project is the easy part. Keeping the generator working over time, however, is a complex business that requires money, training and innovative thinking. One of essential parameters that can help in achieving a successful sustainable project is community involvement. If the community feels a strong sense of ownership, they'll see their generator as a critical asset to everyone and take good care of it collectively. Training and educating the community about how to take care of the generator after the project construction has completed becomes important. Considering Indonesia’s geographical location, e-learning might be a potential tool to reduce training and education cost in new and renewable project. This study aims to identify whether e-learning is an effective and efficient method to deliver training material and educate local people which will improve renewable energy project’s sustainability in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper proposes a fully convolutional variational autoencoder (VAE) for features extraction from a large-scale dataset of fire images. The dataset will be used to train the deep learning algorithm to detect fire and smoke. The features extraction is used to tackle the curse of dimensionality, which is the common issue in training deep learning with huge datasets. Features extraction aims to reduce the dimension of the dataset significantly without losing too much essential information. Variational autoencoders (VAEs) are powerfull generative model, which can be used for dimension reduction. VAEs work better than any other methods available for this purpose because they can explore variations on the data in a specific direction.

Abstract

Fire detection system with deep learning-based computer vision (DLCV *) algorithm is proposed in this paper. It uses visible light sensor charged-coupled device (CCD) which can be usually found in closed circuit television camera (CCTV). The performance of this DLCV fire detection depends on how many fire image datasets are trained that might lead to the curse of dimensionality. To tackle the curse of dimensionality, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) will be used. PCA is a technique for feature extraction in which the dimensionality of such datasets is reduced significantly. This will results in increasing interpretability but at the same time minimizing information loss.

Abstract

Energy security has become the main issue for Indonesia Government because Indonesia is targeted to be independent in energy field. To reach the goals NRE usage, there should be cooperations amongst all party : government, society, academicians as well as corporates. Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is a powerful application to deliver knowledge in the digital age while contributes to educate society about New and Renewable Energy (NRE). However, user requirements are needed before developing VLE to reveal existing conditions and understand the users’ behaviour. This paper purposes to understand the user requirements, who are university students, to contribute to NRE project. Research methods used are interview, observation and questionnaire. Interview was conducted with Lentera Bumi Nusantara who develops NRE technology especially wind turbine in Indonesia. Observation was done in Lentera Bumi Nusantara’s office and questionnaire was distributed amongst 92 students in Universitas Pertamina, Jakarta, Indonesia. The results show that university students are human resources needed in NRE project. Then, learning materials regarding how to build blade and wind turbine have not distributed to others. Furthermore, results show that 84% of university students are ready to contribute in NRE project. However, only 37% of university students own original idea for NRE project related to their academic background. To build the VLE to support NRE projects, there should be menu for university students to discuss online so they can share ideas regarding NRE and menu for contributing to NRE project in Indonesia.

Abstract

The mosque is a holy place for Muslims which functions as a place of worship and also various religious activities. In carrying out its functions, there is a mosque administrator called the Mosque Welfare Council (DKM), which is an organization that carries out tasks voluntarily, starting from supervision. maintenance, to financial management. In carrying out financial management, transparency and accountability are important, so this encourages the design of a mosque financial management system. This research uses a case study of the Arrahmah Mosque in Cilegon to assist DKM in carrying out mosque management. So far, financial reports have been stored in one Excel file containing many sheets, where each sheet contains financial reports for a particular month, making it difficult to analyze cash flow. The Ar-Rahmah Mosque's financial reports are distributed by printing and attaching them to the walls of the mosque. This research was conducted to design and build a financial management system for the Ar-Rahmah Mosque that can manage finances and report finances online to mosque congregations using the Prototyping method. The stages begin with requirements gathering, quick design, build prototype, prototype evaluation, implementation design, and testing. The test results show that the Ar-Rahmah Mosque's financial management system can meet all needs and the system can process financial data, assets and activity information which can be accessed via a browser.
