Abstract

This study is a replication of the results of research Alam and Shah (2013). This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence the foreign direct investment (FDI) in ASEAN in 2000-2013. GDP growth in every country is important to be maintained in order not to decrease due to the growth of GDP will reflect the country's economic growth. Foreign direct investment (FDI) is one way to increase GDP growth. AEC 2015 will facilitate the access of FDI in ASEAN countries so that the opportunity to develop a PMA needs to be optimized. Factors tested in this study, namely market size, labor force, labor productivity, the corporate tax rate, trade openness, political stability, exchange rate, inflation, and the quality of infrastructure. Data management is using Ordinary Least Square is a method of data panel with software E-views 6. The data used are secondary data obtained from the World Bank, The Conference Board, and KPMG. These results indicate that the market size and political stability is a variable that can attract FDI into the country. The higher the value of market size and its political stability, the value of FDI entry also higher.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine and to analyze the impact of Investment, Education, Population Growth, Primary Export, and Manufacturing Export to Economic Growth of 24 countries in Asia. The data analyzes under the total 24 countries and disaggregate grouped on developing countries and developed countries. This study utilizes a quantitative research approach and the method of analysis is data Ordinary Least Square (OLS) for panel data. 24 countries in Asia for period 2004-2013 are used as the sample set. The result indicates that Investment, Population Growth, and Manufacturing Export have significanteffect on Economic Growth in developing country. In addition, Investment, Education, and Primary Export significanteffect on Economic Growth in developed country. The results imply lead a country must give support to the government for improve climate and policies investment as well as improve the education system and quality to encourage sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh penetrasi dan penggunaan broadband infrastructure terhadap PDB negara Asia. Untuk mendapatkan hasil yang lebih detail, selain melihat secara keseluruhan, penulis membagi negara – negara berdasarkan kriteria – kriteria tertentu. Kriteria tersebut adalah bedasarkan lokasi (negara ASEAN dan non-ASEAN) dan berdasarkan pendapatan nasional negara tersebut (negara berpendapatan rendah, negara berpendapatan menengah rendah, negara berpendapatan menengah tinggi dan negara berpendapatan tinggi). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan metode analisis yaitu regresi data pooling dengan data panel. Untuk melihat hasil dari penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan sampel 18 negara di Asia dalam kurun waktu 10 tahun yang dimulai dari tahun 2001 hingga 2010. Dilihat dari hasil penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa ada keterkaitan dan pengaruh yang positif antara penetrasi broadband infrastructure dengan angka PDB negara – negara Asia. Hasil temuan ini membuktikan pernyataan dari Solow (1956) dalam teori pertumbuhan neo-klasik yang menyatakan bahwa tidak hanya modal saja, namun teknologi juga memiliki peranan dalam mempengaruhi pertumbuhan ekonomi.
