Abstract

The percentage of elderly people in Indonesia has surpassed 10%, drawing attention to the specific needs of this demographic. While physical decline is a natural part of ageing, additional needs often emerge as individuals grow older. Ageing is associated with increased demand for healthcare services, financial instability, and a rising elderly dependency ratio. This study analyses elderly care policies in Indonesia, evaluates existing healthcare systems and social support, and compares them with models from several other countries. A narrative review approach was used, incorporating thematic analysis of literature, policy documents, research reports, and statistical reports. The study finds that although various initiatives have been implemented, their execution remains fragmented. Challenges are compounded by unintegrated healthcare services, limited infrastructure in remote areas, insufficient financial assistance, and the absence of a long-term care system. Compared to other countries with more integrated elderly healthcare services, Indonesia needs to improve support for this vulnerable group. The study recommends the development of an integrated national policy, improved access to financial assistance, strengthened community-based healthcare services, and long-term funding for elderly care. Further research is needed to assess the effectiveness of existing policies, the role of informal caregivers, and sustainable financing mechanisms to enhance elderly care systems in Indonesia.

Abstract

HIV testing is important for women of reproductive age. It will be risky during the period of pregnancy, delivery, and breastfeeding and lead to MTCT (mother-to-child transmission) of HIV/AIDS. This study aimed to examine the factors associated with HIV testing. This study used MICS data that gathered the data from November 2021 to January 2022. The total respondents in this study were 1,893 women. The result revealed that 42.58% of women in this study found inaccessibility to HIV testing. The multivariate analysis found the impactful factors are living in rural areas, experienced more than one marriage, and husband/partner as the main decision maker in selecting health facilities, with AOR 1.29; 1.74; and 1.56, respectively. In sum, almost half of women of reproductive age in Uzbekistan cannot access HIV testing with experienced more than once marriage had the highest risk. A qualitative approach can be included in the future study.

Abstract

Emergency situations in midwifery care during pregnancy, labor, and the postnatal period can arise unexpectedly. It is crucial for midwives to be knowledgeable about the legal frameworks governing the protection provided to them in the execution of their professional responsibilities. This scoping review aims to explore the legal protection provided to midwives in emergency situations through a search of relevant literature in bibliography databases and hand-searching, and employed the Participant, Concept, and Context (PCC) principle to formulate the eligibility criteria. Data extraction was conducted using the PRISMA flow diagram. The analysis was conducted using a meta-aggregation approach to map the legal framework for emergency midwifery care from available studies. The review found key themes that emerged from the review included legal protection and scope of practice, midwives' authority in emergency care, importance of competencies and certifications, challenges and power imbalances in midwifery practice, and midwives' dissatisfaction and professional deviation.  This scoping review underscores the importance of legal protection and scope of practice for midwives

Abstract

Unintended pregnancies and associated emotional issues can negatively affect expectant mothers, potentially harming both them and their babies. This study focuses on the significance of forgiveness as an intervention for healing emotional wounds, enhancing self-acceptance, and improving overall well-being and relationships among mothers. It assesses forgiveness's impact on the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual health of mothers throughout their lives, bolstering their resilience. A narrative review of evidence on forgiveness in the context of unwanted teenage pregnancies was conducted from January 2016 to January 2019, including PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane, EBSCO, PubMed, UpToDate, and Clinical Key. Out of 995 studies, 14 articles were selected, primarily emphasizing forgiveness therapy for adolescent bullying and social issues. Although research on forgiveness in unwanted pregnancies was limited and had methodological limitations, early interventions are crucial to safeguard pregnant women's physical and mental health during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Further research with improved methodology is needed to comprehensively understand forgiveness's impact and enhance support for pregnant women
