Abstract

Infusing technology into English Language Teaching can contribute positive impacts toward students’ learning if it is integrated in such a way. Curriculum 2013 proposes the integration of Information Communication Technology into instructional practices. This study investigatedwhether or not the teachers of English integrated ICT into their ELT; described about how ICT was implemented in ELT; and explored the obstacles faced by the teachers of English in implementing ICT. This study surveyed ten state Senior High Schools in Palembang. Twelve teachers of English and 200eleventh grade students participated in this study chosen by using purposive samplingtechnique. In gathering the data, questionnairewas administered. The results showed that most English teachers and students integrated ICT in their classroom. ICT was implemented as instructional tools to facilitate English learning in the classroom. However, they still faced some obstacles in integrating ICT into ELT. School supports became the main factor hindering ICT implementation at schools.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out whether there was significantly correlation and contribution or not between reading habit and linguistic intelligence.Seventy two students as sample by using intact sampling technique. The  method of this study was correlational research. In analyzing the data, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used.It was found that the correlation coefficient or the r-value (0.361) was higher than r-table (0.228). Then, the level of probability (p) significance (sig.2-tailed) was 0.000. It means that p-value (0.002) was lower than 0.05.Inanalyzing the data of regression analysis, it was found that the students’ reading habit contributed students’ linguistic intelligence significantly with tvalue (3.234) was higher than ttable (1.667) with sig.value (0.002) was lower than probability (0.05). It means that students’ reading habit support significant effect in the level of 13% toward linguistic intelligence.Itcanconcluded that there was a significant correlation and contribution between reading habit and linguistic intelligences.

Abstract

This study investigated the implication of Flipped Learning Model toward tertiary students’ critical reading skill. Classroom action research was carried out to conduct the study. Critical reading test, observation of students’ learning participation outside and inside class, and interview were administered to gather the data. This study used descriptive analysis. Students’ prior critical reading skill was considerably low. They did not have self-initiative to practice their reading skill. After implementing this model for three cycles, progress on their critical reading could be noticed. Flipped Learning Model could trigger students’ learning participation both outside and inside classrooms. Yet, students still needed teacher’s assistance to direct their learning process. Flipped model of instruction encouraged students to be able to analyze and evaluate the texts. However, students still had difficulty in internalizing the information to formulate ideas as creating skill needs more practice to achieve. Appropriate learning materials, students’ awareness, and environmental supports influenced the implication of Flipped Learning Model implementation.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan mengungkapkan minat siswa terhadap pelaksanaan ekstrakurikuler seni tari di SMA N 1 Siak. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Informan penelitian ini adalah guru bidang studi seni budaya dan peserta didik yang mengikuti ekstrakurikuler tari di SMA Negeri 1 Siak. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri dan dibantu dengan instrumen pendukung seperti foto, alat perekam, dan alat tulis. Data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara studi pustaka, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Langkah-langkah menganalisis data adalah mengumpulkan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan menyimpulkan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa minat peserta didik terhadap seni tari di dalam kegiatan ekstrakurikuler tari di SMA Negeri 1 Siak secara keseluruhan tergolong baik, dapat dilihat dari faktor lingkungan sekolah dan faktor kepribadian. Faktor lingkungan sekolah, karena di SMA Negeri 1 Siak ini sering dan cukup aktif mengikuti acara di luar dan sarana prasarana yang lengkap membuat peserta didik sangat tertarik untuk mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakurikuler seni tari dan faktor kepribadian, karena memang dari diri mereka sendiri memilih kegiatan ekstrakurikuler tari dan memang memiliki hoby dan bakat yang mereka miliki. Kegiatan ekstrakurikuler tari di SMA Negeri 1 Siak dapat berjalan dengan baik karena guru pelatih sudah mempunyai pedoman untuk kegiatan yang akan dilaksanakan pada tiap pertemuannya serta menyuruh peserta didik yang kurang cepat daya tangkapnya terhadap gerakan yang diberikan oleh guru.
