Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of gender-based violence against women which is represented again by Wisran Hadi in the novel Orang-orang Blanti. Based on the urgency of reviewing this problem, this study aims to analyze the forms of acts of violence experienced by the female characters in the novel and their actions as an effort to resist. The research method used to study these problems is a qualitative method with descriptive content analysis techniques. The findings of the research show that a) the acts of violence experienced by the female characters in the novel Orang-orang Blanti include physical violence and psychological violence; and b) the efforts of female leaders to fight against this act of violence by tracing the background of the perpetrator s actions, rewriting the victim s biography, and rejecting socio-cultural policies that harmed her.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of the relationship between women and nature with male power which is reflected poetically by Dorothea Rosa Herliany in two poems entitled "Nikah Sungai" and "Nikah Pisau". Based on that problem, this study aims to describe (a) the power of male patriarchal necrophilia over women; and (b) the attitude of women as an effort to free themselves from the necrophiliac power of men. The research method used is qualitative with descriptive content analysis techniques. The research findings show two things. First, the poems "Nikah Sungai" dan "Nikah Pisau" reflect men's efforts to destroy women's natural reproductive abilities using the power of necrophilia through manipulating various natural resources such as plants, rocks, sand, animal carcasses, soil, and poison as weapons. Second, the attitude of women's resistance to the power of male necrophilia which is reflected by Dorothea in her two poems is manifested in acts of physical violence such as stabbing the heart and tearing the male genitalia.

This research is motivated by the depiction of the image of female characters depicted by male authors. This study aims to describe the image of women in the Opera Primadona drama script. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method. The data source used in the study is the Opera Primadona drama script book. In this study, the researcher used investigator triangulation to check the data. The data collection technique is by using the reading-note technique. Data reduction, analysis, and conclusion are used to analyse data. The study results show that First , women's self-image includes physical and psychological aspects depicted in the Opera Primadona drama script by Nano Riantiarno. The physical characteristics depicted are about the characters Kejora and Kecubung, who are adult women. In contrast, the characteristics of the psychological aspect are female characters who have responsibilities to themselves and others. Second, the social image of women can be seen from the social image in the family and society. The social image in the family is that the characters Kejora and Kecubung try to be good wives and mothers even though they face several problems. While the social image in society is depicted, Kejora and Amethyst became part of the opera in performances among the people.
