Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of gender-based violence against women which is represented again by Wisran Hadi in the novel Orang-orang Blanti. Based on the urgency of reviewing this problem, this study aims to analyze the forms of acts of violence experienced by the female characters in the novel and their actions as an effort to resist. The research method used to study these problems is a qualitative method with descriptive content analysis techniques. The findings of the research show that a) the acts of violence experienced by the female characters in the novel Orang-orang Blanti include physical violence and psychological violence; and b) the efforts of female leaders to fight against this act of violence by tracing the background of the perpetrator s actions, rewriting the victim s biography, and rejecting socio-cultural policies that harmed her.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of the relationship between women and nature with male power which is reflected poetically by Dorothea Rosa Herliany in two poems entitled "Nikah Sungai" and "Nikah Pisau". Based on that problem, this study aims to describe (a) the power of male patriarchal necrophilia over women; and (b) the attitude of women as an effort to free themselves from the necrophiliac power of men. The research method used is qualitative with descriptive content analysis techniques. The research findings show two things. First, the poems "Nikah Sungai" dan "Nikah Pisau" reflect men's efforts to destroy women's natural reproductive abilities using the power of necrophilia through manipulating various natural resources such as plants, rocks, sand, animal carcasses, soil, and poison as weapons. Second, the attitude of women's resistance to the power of male necrophilia which is reflected by Dorothea in her two poems is manifested in acts of physical violence such as stabbing the heart and tearing the male genitalia.

Abstract

Classical literature learning, particularly hikayat texts, often faces serious challenges in schools as it is perceived as obsolete, abstract, and heavily reliant on difficult archaic language for the digital generation. This issue was observed among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Padang, who experienced linguistic and structural barriers, resulting in writing compositions that failed to meet the minimum mastery standards. On the other hand, teachers still tended to use conventional, one-way methods without utilizing innovative media. This community service program aims to enhance students' hikayat text-writing skills through the intervention of the Guided Writing method based on a process approach, synergized with audio-visual media in the form of hikayat animated videos. The target audience for this program was 70 tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Padang. The implementation method involved intensive training and mentoring over two sessions within a one-month period, covering the stages of planning, translating, and reviewing story drafts. The results demonstrated a highly significant increase in students' literacy and cognitive abilities. The student mastery target in producing complete hikayat texts jumped drastically to 90% (above the minimum mastery criteria). The use of animated videos effectively reduced students' working memory load in visualizing palace settings , while the distribution of Creative Glossaries successfully mitigated archaic language barriers. In addition to producing a tangible output in the form of an E-Book Anthology of Contemporary Hikayat Texts , this program successfully internalized didactic character values and revitalized students' appreciation for Nusantara's cultural roots.
