Abstract

To improve the quality of laboratory examination results, it is absolutely necessary to carry out quality assurance and these activities usually require control materials. The price of expensive commercial control materials is an obstacle to carrying out laboratory quality control. Efforts to maintain quality control are using pooled sera as control material. One of the examinations that is often done is the examination of SGPT (Serum Glutamic Pyruvate Transaminase) blood. The choice of SGPT parameter is expected to represent the type of enzyme assay. The purpose of this study was to determine the stability of pooled sera used as control material for SGPT examination with time and temperature variations. Methods: This research is an experimental study, which was carried out using a collection of serum found in the TLM Clinical Chemistry Laboratory of the Health Ministry of Health, Jambi. By using 2 treatments, the samples were stored at a temperature of 20-25oC and -5oC. Data analysis using ANOVA and coefficient of variation value. Results: The results showed a significant value (p-value) of SGPT of p = 0.008. A significant value (p-value) which is greater than the value of = 0.05, indicates that there is an effect of storage time and temperature variations. Conclusion : There is a significant effect of storage time and temperature variation of pooled sera control material on the stability of SGPT examination.

Abstract

Gas stations (SPBU) as distributors of refined fuel oil (BBM) are one source of air pollution. SPBU workers are a group of people who are vulnerable to Plumbum (Pb) exposure. The toxic effects of lead can affect the function of organs, such as the liver. In this case SGPT (Serum Glutamic Pyruvate Transaminase) which is an enzyme found in many liver cells is known to be effective for diagnosing hepatocellular destruction. And this study aims to see an overview of SGPT levels in gas station workers at Jambi City. The method used in this research is descriptive with a total of 30 samples from gas station workers. The SGPT examination method used is the enzymatic colometry test. The data will be analyzed and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. The results of a study found 7 samples of high SGPT levels in men while in women there were no high levels of SGPT. In addition, high levels of SGPT were found mostly in the age category > 30 years (13.3%) and working time over 5 years. Based on the results of examining SGPT levels at gas station workers, 30 samples were examined, 23 people with normal results and 7 people with high results.

Abstract

Coal as a fuel is used in the industrial sector which indirectly causes air pollution which has broad toxic effects on humans, one of which is disturbance on blood profile. White blood cells (leukocytes) in the human body's defense system play a role in resistance to foreign substances. Eosinophils are a type of leukocyte that function as the body's defense, especially in parasitic infections. Based on observations made, the coal stockpile in Muaro Jambi is still included in the residential area which of course has a direct impact on the health of the surrounding population. The research was conducted descriptively with a cross sectional approach involving 30 residents living around the stockpile of Muaro Jambi. Data of eosinophils count was obtained from the results of blood tests using the automatic method with a Hematology Analyzer. From the the study, the average of examination eosinophils result were within the normal range (3.15). With a higher average for men (3.90), the distance from the house to the stockpile location is ≤ 500 meters (3.47) and the length of domicile shows that the length of stay is ≥ 10 years (3.23). The results of examining eosinophils result in residents around the stockpile indicate that the average value is normal, with a higher value in respondents with spesific characteristics.

Abstract

Background: Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in Tuberculosis (TBC) causes narrowing of the pulmonary blood vessels and triggers pulmonary hypertension which is associated with iron deficiency and anemia. The mineral zinc (Zn) is known to play an important role in destroying the bacteria that cause TBC. In addition, iron (Fe) deficiency in TBC patients can cause relapse and even treatment failure. This study aims to examine the relationship between serum zinc and iron levels and blood pressure in pulmonary TBC patients. Method: A descriptive analytical observational study with a cross sectional design was conducted on 51 TBC patients undergoing treatment at the Simpang IV Sipin Community Health Center, Jambi City. Using a purposive sampling technique, respondents who met the research inclusion and exclusion criteria were examined for zinc and Fe levels. The examination was carried out at the Jambi Province Regional Health Laboratory, the examination result data was then analyzed bivariately using the chi square test. Results: The results of statistical analysis between blood pressure and Zn levels obtained a significant value with P value = 0.877 and a significant value for Fe levels obtained P value = 0.841 ( 0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between Zn and Fe levels and blood pressure in pulmonary TBC patients. Based on research, it is known that iron deficiency and anemia are not directly related to pulmonary hypertension which can be experienced by TBC patients.

Abstract

Infeksi Saluran Pernapasan Akut (ISPA) masih menjadi salah satu penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas balita di Indonesia. Salah satu faktor risiko utama adalah kurangnya asupan zat gizi mikro, terutama zink, yang berperan penting dalam sistem kekebalan tubuh. Desa Pudak, Kecamatan Kumpeh Ulu, merupakan wilayah dengan potensi sumber daya ikan sungai yang melimpah seperti ikan gabus dan patin, namun pemanfaatannya masih terbatas. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pentingnya zink dalam pencegahan ISPA serta meningkatkan keterampilan mengolah ikan sungai menjadi abon yang disukai anak-anak. Metode kegiatan meliputi edukasi gizi, pelatihan pembuatan abon ikan, serta evaluasi melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat dan antusiasme tinggi dalam mengikuti pelatihan. Kesimpulan pengabdian bahwa kegiatan ini tidak hanya mendukung upaya pencegahan ISPA berbasis pangan lokal, tetapi juga membuka peluang usaha mikro yang bernilai ekonomi.
