Abstract

This study examined the English-speaking barriers faced by marine cadets at Nusantara Maritime Academy in Banjarmasin. This study employed a qualitative, descriptive-analytic approach. In this study, there were 30 participants or cadets; 15 were level 1 cadets in their first semester, and 15 were level 2 cadets in their third semester. Interviews and observation were the tools employed in this study. The statistics showed that the Nusantara Nautical Academy in Banjarmasin's maritime cadets had difficulty speaking English. The issues mentioned were solely the linguistic component of speaking ability, specifically a lack of vocabulary, poor pronunciation, and improper grammar. It was discovered that grammar problems were widespread problem among nautical cadets. Lack of vocabulary was the second challenge maritime cadets encountered. The most recent issue was improper pronunciation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the utilisation of the English language within the context of the internship programme for maritime cadets, utilising interviews and observations as primary data collection methods. This qualitative research endeavour seeks to offer valuable insights into the role of English language in the internship program for maritime professionals. The findings of this study have made significant contributions to the improvement of language training programmes, communication protocols, and overall safety and efficiency in maritime internship settings. The empirical evidence indicates that possessing a strong command of English is essential for successfully carrying out safety drills, ensuring smooth vessel navigation and engine maintenance, fostering intercultural comprehension and efficient collaboration, and overseeing documentation procedures in port operations. The study places significant emphasis on the necessity of efficient language instruction, the resolution of language-related obstacles, and the facilitation of intercultural dialogue in order to adequately equip maritime academies and internship programs for fruitful internships and prospective careers as skilled and capable seafarers.

Abstract

AbstractThe planting in question is a way or process of instilling an action so that what is desired to be instilled will grow in apersonsuch as planting mengrove as one of the mangrove forests or commonly called mangrove forests, even though the mention ofmangrove forests is not really appropriate because mangroves are only one of the mangrove species itself is the type of Rhizoporaspp. Research has shown that the carbon storage capacity of mangroves varies widely, depending on the influence of ecologicalfactors. Scientists have also measured the blue carbon storage capacity of mangrove ecosystems that are affected by changesin land use over time, where there are selective logging and aquaculture activities.Secretariat activities carried out by the ranks of the TNI and other national elements from elements of the IndonesianNational Police, Regional Governments and communities throughout Indonesia led by the President of the Republic ofIndonesia. On May 15 2023, this activity was also attended by the Director of the Banjarmasin ArchipelagoMaritimeAcademy together with cadets as a form of concern and community service for the environment, one of which is plantingmangroves. Abstract

Abstract Training can also be said as a systematic practice process that is carried out repeatedly, the amount of training load is increasing day by day. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that training is a process of sports activity that is carried out consciously, systematically, gradually and repeatedly, with a relatively long time, to achieve the ultimate goal of an appearance, namely an increase in optimal performance. This activity aims to instill identity as a leader who can be responsible, disciplined and beneficial to those around him. After the material was explained, it was followed by a discussion in the form of questions and answers between the speaker and the participants, namely the Banjarmasin Archipelago Maritime Academy cadets. Discussions are held so that the trainees better understand the material that has been presented. Techniques or stages of implementing community service in basic leadership training for cadet Battalion cadets at the Banjarmasin Archipelago Maritime Academy. The community service program is carried out in the form of training for cadets of the Banjarmasin Archipelago Maritime Academy and the material is in the form of material presentation.
