Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the role of supervising teachers from the aspect of carrying out guidance service duties in preventing deviant social behavior among students of SMP Negeri 8 Manado. This study uses a qualitative approach, the researcher acts as the main instrument by using observation techniques, interviews, and documentation studies. Data were analyzed qualitatively and took place from the beginning and throughout the research process. Based on the results of the research and discussion, the following conclusions can be drawn: (1) The role of the supervising teacher from the aspect of implementing guidance service duties in preventing deviant social behavior of students at SMP Negeri 8 Manado, has been carried out seriously, since students entered this school and continuously continuously follow the development of individual students. (2) The factors that support the implementation of guidance service duties to prevent deviant social behavior among students of SMP Negeri 8 Manado, among others; (a) received as an integral part of the education program in schools, (b) there is awareness among teachers about the importance of counseling services for students, (3) Factors that hinder the implementation of guidance service duties to prevent social saving behavior among state junior high school students 8 Manado, among others are; (a) the limited number of BK teachers, namely only 3 BK teachers, serving approximately 1200 students, (b) the unavailability of adequate rooms and facilities for guidance and counseling service activities, and (c) the workload of BK teachers who are not balanced, namely BK teachers whose number is 3 and each person is assigned to serve 1200 students, and also teach Civics subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the work ethic of supervising teachers from the aspect of carrying out service duties at SMA Negeri 5 Manado City. This study used a qualitative approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The main instrument in qualitative research is the researcher himself who in data collection is: 1). Observation2). Interview,. 3). Documentation, data analysis techniques used qualitative analysis techniques. Based on data found from informants, efforts to overcome obstacles to carrying out service duties at SMA Negeri 5 Manado City are still limited, namely attending seminars related to the guidance and counseling program, both at the regional and national levels. Apart from that, another obstacle is that supervising teacher personnel are assigned to do other tasks outside their profession, so that their main tasks are often ignored. This is related to a management system that does not understand the guidance and counseling program. Based on the results of the research and discussion described above, it can be taken the conclusion that the work ethic and professional commitment of supervising teachers at SMA Negeri 5 Manado is in the sufficient category, and which is still low, and each school has different obstacles.
