Abstract

ABSTRACTEnglish for specific purposes is useful to be used in some sectors like tourism, hospital, law,and so on. In STIKES Bina Usada Bali especially, the students as the second language learnermay face some errors during learning how to use the correct English expression. They hardlychoose the correct word or expression when they try to speak to the patient in makingempathetic responses especially for diabetic. This study aimed at describing diction byidentifying meaning and supporting element context and the implication toward Englishlearning especially in making empathetic responses for diabetic of nursing student of StikesBina Usada Bali. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. In the form of researchword used in making empathetic responses for diabetic when the student do speaking activity.Data analysis based on the use of word meaning denotation and connotation context.Keywords: diction, speaking, empathetic responses, diabeticABSTRAKEnglish for Spesific Purposes berguna untuk digunakan di beberapa sektor seperti pariwisata,rumah sakit, hukum, dan sebagainya. Di STIKES Bina Usada Bali khususnya, siswa sebagaipelajar bahasa kedua mungkin menghadapi beberapa kesalahan selama belajar bagaimanamenggunakan ekspresi bahasa Inggris yang benar. Mereka tidak memilih kata atau ungkapanyang benar saat mereka mencoba berbicara kepada pasien dalam membuat respons empatiterutama untuk penderita diabetes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan diksi denganmengidentifikasi makna dan elemen pendukung dan implikasinya terhadap pembelajaranbahasa Inggris terutama dalam membuat tanggapan empati untuk penderita diabetes pada siswaKeperawatan Bina Usada Bali. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Dalambentuk kata penelitian yang digunakan dalam membuat respons empati untuk penderitadiabetes saat siswa melakukan aktivitas berbicara. Analisis data didasarkan pada penggunaankata yang berarti denotasi dan konotasi konteks.Kata kunci: diksi, berbicara, respon empati, diabetes

Abstract

ABSTRACTParents' verbal abuse on their children often happens consciously or unconsciously. This occursbecause the impact of verbal abuse is not as direct as physical violence. Children are like plainwhite canvases that are ready to be swept with various colors because children cannot or do nothave sufficient knowledge to distinguish certain things, especially in the things they receivefrom their families such as verbal abuse and also children will easily absorb what he heardwithout having to think about it first. The impact of verbal abuse can cause hurt feelings thatcause children to think as they often say to their parents. This study aims at identifying andclassifying the types of verbal abuse by parents when assisting children in online learning athome in Kerobokan Village, Kuta Utara, Badung, Bali. The method used in this research wasthe qualitative method, the phenomenological approach was chosen because it describes themeaning of the subject's experience of the phenomenon being studied. There are several stepstaken in carrying out the research by searching for data, managing data, and presenting existingdata. In the process of searching for data, researchers used the method of recording, writing,and observing. The study found that the classification of verbal violence that is spoken byparents to children during online learning is a curse, intimidation, words that belittle orembarrassing and criticizing, and the psychological impact on the child. From the results of thisresearch, it can be concluded that verbal violence harms children, parents are more patient inaccompanying their children, are more able to select and sort words and sentences that can buildchildren's self-confidence.Keywords: children, abuse, verbal, violenceABSTRAKPelecehan verbal orang tua kepada anaknya sangat sering terjadi secara sadar atau tidaksadar. Ini terjadi karena dampak pelecehan verbal tidak langsung seperti kekerasan fisik. Anakibarat kanvas putih polos yang siap disapu dengan berbagai warna karena anak tidak dapatatau tidak memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup untuk membedakan hal-hal tertentu, terutamadalam hal-hal yang mereka terima dari keluarganya seperti caci maki dan juga anak akandengan mudah menyerap apa yang ia terima. mendengar tanpa harus memikirkannya terlebihdahulu. Dampak pelecehan verbal dapat menimbulkan rasa sakit hati yang menyebabkan anakberpikir seperti yang sering mereka ucapkan kepada orang tuanya. Penelitian ini bertujuanuntuk mengidentifikasi dan mengelompokkan jenis-jenis kekerasan verbal yang dilakukanorang tua saat mendampingi anak dalam pembelajaran online di rumah di Desa Kerobokan,Kuta Utara Badung. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif,pendekatan fenomenologi dipilih karena menggambarkan makna pengalaman subjek terhadapfenomena yang diteliti. Ada beberapa tahapan yang dilakukan dalam melakukan penelitian yaitu dengan mencari data, mengelola data, dan menyajikan data yang ada. Dalam prosespencarian data, peneliti menggunakan metode pencatatan, penulisan, dan observasi.Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan ditemukan bahwa klasifikasi kekerasan verbalyang diucapkan oleh orang tua kepada anak selama pembelajaran online adalah makian,intimidasi, perkataan yang meremehkan atau memalukan dan mengkritik, serta berdampakpsikologis pada anak. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kekerasan verbalmerugikan anak, orang tua lebih sabar dalam mendampingi anaknya, lebih mampu memilihdan mengurutkan kata dan kalimat yang dapat membangun rasa percaya diri anak.Kata kunci: anak, pelcehan, verbal, kekerasan

Abstract

Introduction to fauna in English through animated videos is an effort to introduce the names of animals and their habitats orally and in writing. The purpose of this community engagement activity is to (1) imitate and pronounce the English names of animals according to the pictures, (2) match the English words with the animal pictures, and (3) connect the pictures with the written English words. The method used is socialisation and mentoring, by providing materials on the introduction of fauna in English through animated videos. The participants of this activity are 23 students from the 2nd and 3rd grades of SD Negeri 1 Sedang. The results of this activity are: (1) conducting field approaches and observations, (2) the team providing facilities such as material delivery, videos, gifts, and snacks in the form of biscuits and milk to the participants, (3) providing training through materials, games, and question-and-answer sessions, (4) evaluating the participants' understanding of the given materials. The observations and evaluations show that the participants have understood several English vocabulary words related to the names of animals and their habitats.

Abstract

Community service activities with the theme "Growing Mind: Show Your Smile, Blow Your Mind for Learning Our Body" is a theme raised with the aim of developing children's minds by learning happily and learning intelligently to understand body parts in English. The objectives of this PKM activity were: (1) imitating saying English words according to the picture, (2) saying English words according to the picture, (3) matching the sound of the English word with the picture that symbolizes it, and (4) connecting the picture and writing English. The method used was socialization and mentoring. Presentation of material about increase your knowledge of English by learning 'parts of the body' through audio-visual and audio-lingual methods. The participants in this activity were 36 students of SD Negeri 8 Padang Sambian Kaja. The results of this PKM activity were: (1) using an approach method through field observations, (2) the team provided facilities in the form of delivering materials, prizes, and providing consumption in the form of healthy drinks such as milk to students at SD Negeri 8 Padang Sambian Kaja, Kec. West Denpasar. (3) training through materials, games and question and answer sessions, (4) evaluation of activities regarding the understanding of counseling participants. From the results obtained, useful PKM activities was obtained related to increasing knowledge of English by learning 'parts of the body' through audio visual and lingual methods.

Abstract

The community service program entitled "Transformation Through Language: English and Character Training for Children at Dharma Giri Orphanage" aims to improve the English skills and character development of children at the orphanage. This activity was carried out for six months, attended by 30 children with various age backgrounds and language abilities. The training methods applied included interactive teaching sessions, group discussions, and game activities designed to increase children's motivation and engagement. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in English skills, with the average final quiz score increasing from 60 to 80. In addition, the children also showed positive developments in aspects of character, such as self-confidence and the ability to work together. The active participation of various partners, including orphanage administrators, teachers, volunteers, and donors, has strengthened the success of this program. This program is expected to continue and provide a wider impact on children at Dharma Giri Orphanage, preparing them to face challenges in the future.
