Abstract

Metabolic syndrome has become a global epidemic with a widespread increase in obesity cases. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome is quite high and varies between populations of different ethnicities. Hypertension is a major contributor to the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and abdominal fat is strongly associated with metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome increases the risk of various degenerative diseases, for example type 2 DM, cardiovascular disease, stroke, heart infarction and the risk of death from the above degenerative diseases. Lifestyle modification combined with diet and exercise remains the initial intervention to reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome. This Community Service Activity is aimed at providing additional knowledge about healthy lifestyle patterns that can prevent or control metabolic syndrome, so that it is hoped that people can apply it in their daily lives and ultimately reduce the rate of morbidity and mortality due to metabolic syndrome. The activity was carried out at the Trisakti Nagrak campus, Ciangsana village, Gunung Putri sub-district, Bogor, December 3 2023. Counseling is carried out using the lecture method and ends with questions and answers. Participants are given pre-test and post-test questions before and after the counseling session to assess how far the participants' related knowledge has increased.

Abstract

Basic life support is the initial activity to restore respiratory and/or circulatory function to someone who has experienced respiratory arrest and/or cardiac arrest. The main goal of basic life support is to restore the body's vital functions, namely breathing and circulation, to prevent death. Basic life support can actually be carried out by ordinary people before paramedics or a medical team arrives at the accident scene. However, it is a shame that knowledge regarding basic life support is still low among ordinary people. Lack of knowledge of Basic Life Support among lay people is one of the factors causing the high death rate due to sudden cardiac arrest, therefore increasing public knowledge about basic life support is very necessary. This community service activity (PKM) teaches and trains the general public so they can provide first aid to cardiac arrest patients.  With this increase in knowledge, it is hoped that the public will be able to provide first aid for cardiac arrest before medical personnel arrive, thereby increasing the life expectancy of patients with sudden cardiac arrest outside the hospital. The activity was carried out at the Trisakti Nagrak campus, Ciangsana village, Gunung Putri sub-district, Bogor, on November 9 2024. The training was carried out using a lecture method, demonstration of basic life support actions, then participants practiced the material taught on a mannequin and ended with a question and answer session. Participants were given pretest and posttest questions before and after the training session to assess how far the participants' BHD knowledge had improved. The output of this pkm activity is publication in accredited national journals, creation of Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) and publication in public media (You Tube).

Abstract

Delays in audit reports can be caused by busy audit partners who hold several clients, which can affect the quality of financial reports. This research analyzes the influence of audit partners' busyness and directors' characteristics on the quality of financial reports, with audit report delays as a mediating variable. Using multiple linear regression, this research examines 233 sample data from property and real estate companies listed on the IDX during the 2018-2022 period. The research results show that the size of the board of directors has a significant negative effect on audit report delays. Audit report delays have a significant negative effect, and the directors' expertise has a significant positive effect on the quality of financial reports. Delays in the audit report are not significant in mediating the effect of partner busyness and director characteristics on the quality of financial reports. The results of this research provide new insight into evaluating financial reports, especially regarding delays in audit reports, partners' busyness, and directors' characteristics.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Dengue fever, caused by mosquitoes, has four serotypes with over 30% amino acid sequence differences. Secondary infections are more severe than primary ones, possibly due to antibody-dependent enhancement. Certain serotypes can cause more severe infections even during primary infection. Methods: The PRISMA 2020 Systematic Review ensures the accuracy and consistency of research on dengue infections. The study complies with strict inclusion and exclusion standards, assessing cross-sectional studies, English-language publications, and factors such as titles, authors, publication dates, locations, and methodologies. The aim is to improve patient care practices and raise awareness of important topics in literature. Result: After a thorough three-step screening process, 10 papers were determined to have pertinent connections to our current in-depth investigation. Following that, the entire text was closely scrutinized, and further attention was paid to these specific passages. Conclusion: Secondary infections, influenced by different serotypes, are prevalent in Southeast Asian regions, with severe cases more common than primary infections.

Abstract

Background: Malnutrition is a prevalent issue in hospital settings, significantly impacting patient outcomes and healthcare costs. This study aimed to identify and analyze risk factors associated with malnutrition and its influence on the length of stay (LOS) among hospitalized patients at Klungkung General Hospital, Indonesia. Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted, including adult patients admitted to Klungkung General Hospital between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. Malnutrition was assessed using the Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) tool. Patient demographics, medical history, nutritional status, laboratory parameters, and LOS were collected. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify risk factors associated with malnutrition and its impact on LOS. Results: A total of 43,949 patients were included in the study, with 1,084 (2.46%) identified as malnutrition. The mean LOS for malnutrition patients was significantly longer than for well-nutrition patients (7.8 days vs. 4.2 days, p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis revealed that age ≥ 60 years (OR 2.31, 95% CI 1.85-2.89), presence of comorbidities (OR 1.75, 95% CI 1.42-2.16), low albumin levels (OR 2.05, 95% CI 1.68-2.50), and inadequate dietary intake (OR 1.98, 95% CI 1.61-2.43) were independent risk factors for malnutrition. Malnutrition was also an independent predictor of prolonged LOS (OR 1.68, 95% CI 1.36-2.07). Conclusion: Malnutrition is a significant problem at Klungkung General Hospital, associated with increased LOS. Early identification of risk factors and implementation of targeted nutritional interventions are crucial to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
