Abstract

The main globalist argument is to depict globalization as a universalization process. The notion chains several debates on how the future of resistance takes place within globalization. The interconnectivity, which became the main feature of the recent globalization, issues a dominant narrative concerning universal governance in the form of capitalism. Those dominant narrative results in an inevitable globalization paradigm. On the other hand, the skeptic critics stated that interconnectivity made possible towards resistance upon globalization in terms of relations between market and state. This research departs from the skeptic notions of globalization to argue that there is a robust future of resistance and ideology along with the globalization process. Globalization brought up a discussion concerning the nature of the paradox of power, which lies beneath interconnectivity. On the one hand, interconnectivity connects the capitalist impacting the hegemon nature of nowadays capitalism. On the other hand, the hegemony caught up in a vis-a-vis position with the ideological resistance in the Occupy Wallstreet movement. Keywords: Globalization, Resistance, Occupy Wallstreet Movement, Power, InterconnectivityArgumen kaum globalis yang mengidentifikasi globalisasi sebagai proses universalisasi memunculkan perdebatan mengenai eksistensi resistensi.

Abstract

This paper argues, posfeminist claims in post-1990 about the absence of oppression of women by patriarchal structures is not entirely true. They are still there. One indication is the emergence of a topless movement called Femen. in Ukraine. They protest against three things: dictatorship, religious institutions and the sex industry. The emergence of the Ukrainian Femen at least supported by two things, domestic and international. Domestic factors consist of democratization and Barbie lifestyle emerging in Ukraine and international factors that include the globalization of information and the ratification of the International Convention CEDAW. These factors support the assumption about the emergence of Femen as postmodern, in a quadrant of the second wave of feminism. This movement has been falsely interpreted as the existence of oppression of female identity in the midst of patriarchal structure.

Abstract

Abstract

Globalization is believed to be the exogenous driving force that has changed many social and political changes in the last few decades. Deprived of the identity of a socio-political entity, including the people in Indonesia, is a socio-political phenomenon that has become increasingly apparent in recent developments. Supported by increasingly high internet penetration rates, this uprooted culture is even felt in rural areas. But, that does not mean that the local wisdom of Indonesian people can then be lost. Bancakan Salak is one of the cultures of Indonesian people who retain elements of local wisdom. The word "bancakan" itself means "form of gratitude" and is manifested in the form of holding a meal together. While salak is the main plantation commodity in the Galengdowo village, Wonosalam district, Jombang. Bancakan Salak becomes interesting to study when it is associated with the loss of local culture due to globalization. Therefore, this study looks at the efforts of the Galengdowo village government to preserve the culture and local wisdom in the village. This study uses a mixed approach (mixed method). The research instruments used were interviews, observation, and questionnaires to obtain primary and secondary data. With these three instruments, it is hoped that the research team will get a clear picture of the history of the Bancakan Salak and why the Bancakan Salak tradition was remade by the Galengdowo village government.

Abstract

In the age of the new wave feminism movement, Femen stood out to be one of the heavily discussed topics of women's movements due to its controversial protest strategy. They are one of few feminist movements that utilize, or in their terms, weaponize, the naked body to deliver a political message. It generates various backlash, upon which they are accused of perpetuating western biased standards of beauty and marginalizing non-white women's experience. Despite the controversy, they gained international recognition from the birth of the movement in 2009 until recently. We explore the matters by examining the enabling factors supporting the global movement to endure the controversy over the last decade. We conclude that two factors play a crucial role in the movement's sustainability. First, how they encapsulate and translate the sextremism ideology into firm action. Second, Femen has developed a firm, organized, yet fluid social movement by establishing strong informal ties through soldier-like training.
