Abstract

Until now, dysmenorrhea is still a frightening threat for women, especially young women, when they are approaching menstruation. Pain that occurs during menstruation is a result of excessive uterine contractions caused by the hormone prostaglandin. One non-pharmacological method used to reduce the intensity of pain is by using lavender aromatherapy. Aromatherapy can be given through inhalation or direct application to the skin through massage using inner oil. Aromatherapy is believed to be useful in treating respiratory problems, pain, and mental and emotional problems. The main aim of the research was to see how pain intensity decreased in teenagers before and after being given lavender aromatherapy. This quasi-experimental research used a one group pre-post and post-test approach with samples taken based on purposive sampling according to the specified criteria of 33 people. The results of the Shapiro Wilk test showed that the average pain scale before treatment was 6.52. Then the average pain scale dropped to 4.30 after being given lavender aromatherapy. The calculated Z value is 5.150 and the p-value is 0.000, thus providing significant results that there is an effect of giving lavender aromatherapy on the intensity of menstrual pain in young women at SMA Negeri 1 Perbaungan. In the future, it is hoped that lavender aromatherapy can continue to develop its properties and benefits for teenagers who have problems with pain during menstruation or related health problems.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the concentration of hemoglobin in them decreases from normal levels. This study aims to determine hemoglobin levels in postpartum mothers before giving green bean juice and hemoglobin levels in postpartum mothers after giving green bean juice. In conducting this research, the research used a quantitative research design with a one-group pretest-posttest design model, that is, before it was carried out, observations were made on the sample and after treatment, observations were made again. The data collection technique was carried out using a total sampling technique. Based on the research results, the probability of the test results listed in the table shows that the resulting probability is 0.000. This means that the probability < level of significance (? = 0.05) so that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, it can be stated that there is a significant difference between the hemoglobin levels in postpartum mothers with anemia before giving green bean juice (Pretest) and the hemoglobin levels in postpartum mothers with anemia after giving green bean juice (Posttest). The conclusion that can be drawn is that giving green bean juice (Phaseolus Radiates) affects the hemoglobin levels of postpartum mothers with anemia at the Pratama Cahaya Lubuk Pakam Clinic in 2024.

Abstract

Nutritional problems are one of the challenges in the field of public health in Indonesia, both related to malnutrition and excess nutrition. Changes in the era that drive economic progress also affect food consumption patterns, which ultimately contribute to the increase in obesity cases. Obesity is a significant health issue in the era of globalization and is defined as a condition in which there is an abnormal increase in body fat levels, as well as a decrease in muscle mass, quality, and strength. Women of childbearing age (WUS) are a group of women who are in the transition phase from late adolescence to early adulthood, marked by the onset of menstruation and the development of reproductive organs until reaching peak fertility. This period is a stage in a woman's life cycle that involves physical and psychological growth and development in the age range of 18-40 years. This study used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional study design, where a survey was conducted to collect data through a questionnaire. The results of the univariate analysis of 91 respondents showed that 85.7% were obese, while 14.3% were not. Most respondents (84.6%) often consumed fast food, and 57.1% had low levels of physical activity. In terms of knowledge, 82.4% of respondents who are obese have a low level of knowledge, and most of them (54.9%) are housewives who do not have jobs. Thus, factors related to the incidence of obesity in women of childbearing age include fast food consumption patterns, physical activity levels, and knowledge levels.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a menstrual pain condition commonly experienced by adolescent girls, often interfering with daily activities both in school and social environments. The high prevalence of dysmenorrhea makes it one of the reproductive health issues that requires attention, particularly among adolescents. Management of dysmenorrhea can be carried out through pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. One of the non-pharmacological methods that is simple, inexpensive, and easy to apply is warm water compress therapy. The mechanism of warm compresses involves vasodilation of blood vessels, improved blood circulation, muscle relaxation, and reduction of pain perception, making it effective in alleviating dysmenorrhea symptoms. This study aimed to determine the effect of warm water compresses on the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls at Nusantara Private Senior High School, Lubuk Pakam. The research design was pre-experimental using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 19 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant reduction in pain intensity after the intervention, with Z = -3.873 and p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The mean pain scale decreased from 2.68 to 1.89. It can be concluded that warm water compress therapy is effective in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls. These findings suggest that warm compresses may serve as a recommended non-pharmacological nursing intervention to alleviate menstrual pain in adolescents.
