Abstract

AbstrakPengabdian kepada masyarakat merupakan salah satu tugas yang termuat dalam tridarma perguruan tinggi. Sebagai salah satu bentuk implementasi pengabdian kepada masyarakat, penulis menyelenggarakan kegiatan pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) yang menyasar para ekspatriat yang berada di lingkungan PT. Changsin Reksa Jaya Leles Garut. Dalam kegiatan pembelajaran tersebut penulis bertindak sebagai pengajar yang menggunakan Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa instruksional atau alat komunikasi utama pada saat kegiatan pembelajaran. Tujuan utama kegiatan pengabdian dalam bentuk pembelajaran BIPA ini adalah untuk membekali para ekspatriat yang berada di lingkungan PT. Changsin Reksa Jaya, Leles Garut, wawasan, pengetahuan dan praktik langsung Bahasa Indonesia sebagai alat komunikasi primer para karyawan yang bekerja di sana. Kegiatan pengabdian melalui pembelajaran bahasa ini diharapkan para ekspatriat yang memegang posisi top management mampu berkomunikasi langsung baik secara lisan maupun tulisan dengan para karyawannya yang mayoritas kurang mampu menguasai Bahasa Inggris lisan maupun tulisan. Untuk mengukur efektivitas kegiatan ini, penulis memilih metode subjek tunggal (single-subject design). Metode eksperimen subjek tunggal dipilih karena responden yang diteliti mempunyai jumlah yang terbatas, yakni sekitar 3-5 orang. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa (1) pelaksanaan pembelajaran BIPA dengan menggunakan Bahasa Inggris sebagai alat komunikasi selama pembelajaran efektif memfasilitasi interaksi antara pembelajar dan pengajar, (2) Bahasa Inggris yang digunakan sebagai Bahasa instruksional dalam pembelajaran BIPA efektif meningkatkan kemampuan pemproduksian kalimat bahasa Indonesia ketiga pembelajar walaupun tiap-tiap pembelajar memiliki tipe kesulitan yang beragam.Kata-kata Kunci: Bahasa Inggris; Media Komunikasi, BIPA. Abstract Community service is one of the tasks in tridharma (main duties) of higher education. As a form of community service implementation, the writer organized Indonesian Language Learning for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) activities targeting expatriates who are in Changsin Reksa Jaya Ltd, Leles Garut. In the learning activities, the writer roled as a teacher who used English as an instructional language or the main communication media during learning activities. The main objective of BIPA learning service is to equip expatriates around Changsin Reksa Jaya Ltd, Leles Garut, insight, knowledge and hands-on practice of Indonesian as the primary communication mean for the employees who work there. Through this service activity the expatriates holding top management positions there are able to communicate with their employees in the terms of spoken and written English, in fact majority of them have less proficiency level of Indonesian language. To measure the effectiveness of this activity, the authors chose the single-subject design method. The single-subject experimental method was chosen because the respondents studied had a limited number, which was about 3-5 people. The results of the service show that (1) the implementation of BIPA learning by using English as a communication tool during learning effectively facilitates interaction between students and teacher, (2) English which is used as an instructional language in BIPA learning is effective in increasing the ability to produce Indonesian sentences for the three learners although each learner has a different type of difficulty. Abstract

The diversity of religious life is truly very interesting, because this diversity provides inner and outer peace. Tolerance also essentially refers to human attitudes or behavior that adhere to rules, allowing individuals to evaluate and respect the actions of others. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with the main focus on uncovering the communication strategies used by the FKUB (Religious Harmony Forum) in Garut Regency to encourage tolerance and religious freedom based on communication strategy theory (Arifin, 1984). Dynamics of inter-religious harmony in Garut Regency after the issuance of Regional Regulation Number 14 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of Tolerance in Community Life. Providing a significant impact on well-coordinated collaborative efforts in preventing and resolving intolerance or conflict in the Garut region. The facts on the ground are that there have been no incidents of intolerance reported in Garut over the last two years.
