Abstract

Stunting is a chronic malnutrition condition that has an impact on children's brain development. This study aimed to determine the differences in gross motor and fine motor skills development of toddlers aged 36-59 months between stunting and non-stunted in Kupang City. The type of research utilized was an analytical observation by cross-sectional design. The population was all children receiving Early Childhood Education (PAUD) in Kupang City, as many as 8580 children. The study was carried out in January-May 2022. The sampling technique used random cluster sampling to obtain a sample of 382 children. Nutritional status was obtained using the TB/U indicator. The motor development of toddlers was obtained through the Denver II test. The statistical test used is the chi-square test. The results showed that 22% of toddlers were classified as stunting, 6,8% of toddlers with gross motor skills were classified as suspect, and 36,1% of toddlers with fine motor skills were classified as suspicious (dubious development/failure to test). There were differences in gross and fine motorik development in stunted and non-stunted toddlers with p<0,05. PAUD Managers are expected to be more active in monitoring early childhood growth and development, especially in stunted children. If deviations are discovered or suspected, immediate action can be taken to ensure that growth and development are not disrupted.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Masalah gizi rentan terjadi pada anak usia sekolah. Data EPPGBM Kota Kupang tahun 2021 menunjukkan bahwa Kecamatan Maulafa menempati urutan pertama dengan jumlah stunting terbanyak di Kota Kupang yaitu 33% sehingga diperlukan tindakan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Untuk mengetahui gambaran status gizi (TB/U) dan meningkatkan pengetahuan anak sekolah  mengenai jajanan sehat dan gizi seimbang. Pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan di SDN Inpres Oepura 3 dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 108 anak berasal dari kelas IV dan V pada bulan Juni 2023. Pengukuran status gizi menggunakan stadiometer, penyuluhan menggunakan metode caramah dan permainan ular tangga serta tanya jawab. Pengukuran status gizi menggunakan indicator TB/U diperoleh hasil sebanyak 69 anak (61,1%) tergolong normal dan sebanyak 39 anak (36,1%) tergolong stunting. Siswa sangat antusias, aktif bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan serta memahami syarat jajanan sehat dan gizi seimbang. Sebanyak 31,6% anak mengalami stunting dan kegiatan penyuluhan memberikan dampak positif pada siswa dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai jajanan sehat dan gizi seimbang. Diperlukan upaya pemantauan status gizi anak secara berkala dan memberikan penanganan bagi anak yang sudah terdeteksi stunting. Pihak sekolah diharapkan selalu memantau penjaja makanan di lingkungan sekolah dan orang tua untuk menyiapkan bekal bagi anak dengan gizi seimbang. Kata Kunci: Stunting, Jajanan Sehat, Gizi Seimbang  ABSTRACT Nutritional problems are prone to occurring in school-age children. EPPGBM data for Kupang City for 2021 shows that Maulafa District ranks first with the highest number of stunting in Kupang City, namely 33%, so action is needed to overcome this problem. To describe nutritional status (TB/U) and increase schoolchildren's knowledge about healthy snacks and balanced nutrition. Community service was carried out at SDN Inpres Oepura 3 with a total of 108 participants from grades IV and V in June 2023. Nutritional status was measured using a stadiometer, counselling was done using the Caramah method, a snakes and ladders game, and questions and answers were given. Measuring nutritional status using the height/age indicator showed that 69 children (61.1%) were classified as normal and 39 children (36.1%) were classified as stunted. Students are very enthusiastic, actively ask and answer questions, and understand the requirements for healthy snacks and balanced nutrition. As many as 31.6% of children are stunted, and counselling activities have had a positive impact on students by increasing their knowledge about healthy snacks and balanced nutrition. Efforts are needed to periodically monitor the nutritional status of children and provide treatment for children who have been detected as stunting. The school is expected to always monitor food vendors in the school environment, and parents are expected to prepare supplies for children with balanced nutrition. Keywords: Stunting, Healthy Snacks, Balanced Nutrition.

Abstract

Panti asuhan merupakan tempat bagi anak anak terlantar dan yang tidak memiliki orang tua yang berfungsi untuk melindungi hak hak anak tersebut. Anak-anak yang tinggal di panti asuhan seringkali memiliki keluarga dari ekonomi rendah atau anak yang tidak memiliki keluarga. Salah satu sasaran kemandirian melalui kegiatan wirausaha adalah anak yatim piatu dan anak terlantar yang tinggal di panti asuhan. Karena keterbatasan ekonomi anak anak tersebut sulit untuk mengembangkan keterampilan melalui pendidikan formal maupun informal. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berkaitan dengan bidang peningkatan keterampilan  dalam bidang pengolahan makanan yaitu mengolah snack berupa stick ubi ungu dan onde ketawa. Pihak yang terlibat antara lain ketua Yayasan, anak panti yang berusia remaja  serta mahasiswa dan dosen Jurusan Gizi Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang. Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat berupa Pelatihan tentang pengolahan aneka pangan local menjadi aneka snack yang sehat sudah berjalan dengan baik dengan disambut secara antusias oleh ketua yayasan dan peserta. Pengabdian masyarakat hendaknya dapat dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan dengan variasi materi yang lebih banyak dan juga dikembangkan ke lokasi lainnya sehingga mendapatkan dampak positif bagi masyarakat.
