Abstract

This study examines the role of state Islamic tertiary institutions in responding to the challenges of globalization in Indonesia. One tertiary institution was used as a research case study, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. This study uses qualitative methods through literature data collection, field observations, and interviews. The results of the research show that UIN Bandung has designed and prepared a strategy for facing the globalization era, which consists of seven main methods, which include: financial planning and allocation management; improvement of research and publication programs; lecture management; improvement and empowerment of international standard human resources; increasing global insight by maintaining Islamic scientific values; pilot projects for international class programs; and development of the quality of study programs. The seven strategies are supported by the initiative of the academic community independently so that it has succeeded in realizing UIN Bandung as one of the PTKI, which is ready to welcome the era of globalization and gain an international reputation.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyse the implementation of deep learning pedagogies across international educational contexts and assess their relevance to Indonesia's curriculum reform. Deep learning is defined as student-centred instruction that enhances critical thinking, knowledge transfer, and reflective understanding. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, synthesising 31 peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and early 2024. The findings indicate that project-based, inquiry-based, and reflective learning strategies are most commonly employed to foster deep cognitive engagement. However, successful adoption requires comprehensive policy support, continuous teacher professional development, and adaptation to local cultural and infrastructural contexts. In Indonesia, although the Kurikulum Merdeka reflects the principles of deep learning, its implementation remains fragmented and uneven. The study concludes that embedding deep learning in the Indonesian curriculum necessitates systemic reforms in curriculum design, assessment practices, teacher preparation, and digital infrastructure. These insights offer practical implications for policymakers and educators aiming to align global pedagogical innovations with national educational goals.

Abstract

This study aims to explore effective planning strategies for multicultural education through an event management framework at Bakti Karya Parigi Vocational High School (SMK). Using a qualitative research approach with grounded theory methodology, this study employs a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the school principal, teachers, students, and stakeholders; participant observation during the planning and implementation of school events; and document analysis. Data were managed and analyzed using ATLAS—ti software. The findings reveal that SMK Bakti Karya Parigi adopts event management as a holistic educational strategy to instill multicultural values. The school systematically plans and implements activities that introduce cultural diversity and build students' character and competencies for a multicultural society. This study concludes that event management principles—such as idea exploration, resource planning, collaboration, financial management, targeted promotion, and operational planning—can be effectively integrated into multicultural education. This finding recommends that vocational schools adopt event-based strategies as a sustainable model for fostering inclusivity and intercultural competence in diverse educational environments.
