Abstract

It will be more accurate to understand Islam in the Southeast Asia if the respective backgrounds of geo-political history are understood in particular. Western colonial influence such as Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, English, French and United States that makes up the typology of Southeast Asian Islamic culture, strengthens the plurality of their Islamic character that seems increasingly clear. Philippine Muslim communities, that form the community of the Moro Islamic movement, are the products of the Spanish and the United States colonial policy, which determines the fate and treats Muslims as a conquered state. This long history results in the emergence of a heroic character in Philippines Muslims which is different from other Muslims in Southeast Asia that are relatively considered quiet and peaceful. Doing historiography of Islam in Southeast Asia without involving cases of Muslims in Philippines will not find the plurality of character.

One of the unique tradition of them is writing the book on “Manaqib” or Sufi hagiography as the embodiment of ideals, intellectual, and “tarekat” (Sufi order) institutional doctrine as a reflection cohesiveness students in raising the role of teaching and Sufis figure as well as being a great effort for the development of Islamic historiography. And proved to be much more Sufi groups that maintain the life of such, they are not crystallized in the form of a dynasty, but more concrete in the form of social religious-institutions in areas of the East Central and parts of Asia, or in the form of religious schools in the Indonesian archipelago region. Specifically, Sufism in Medieval showed very strong social forces, especially in the pockets of rural and urban areas in a number of cities of Islam. Moreover, the Islamic tradition, mosque, and Islamic boarding school in “Nusantara” (Indonesian archipelago) are the part of the network of Sufi “zawiyah” tradition that has long flourished in the Middle East at the middle period in the history of Islam.KEY WORDS: Civilization; Sufi Zawiyah; Social-Political Condition; Islamic Tradition; Historiography.About the Author: Dr. Ajid Thohir is a Lecturer at the Department of History and Civilization of Islam, Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN SGD (State Islamic University, Sunan Gunung Djati) Bandung, Jalan A.H. Abstract

Abstract: This article describe the conflict resolution carried out by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Mecca-Medina War. The Mecca-Medina War itself was a war that took place between Mecca Quraysh against the Muslims in the early period of Islamic history. This war took the largest portion of the conflict that occurred throughout Muhammad's prophetic history. The research method used in this study was historical research. The results of this study are expected to contribute ideas in conflict resolution by relying on the history of the Prophet (PBUH). The results of the study indicate that dialogue, migration, peace agreements, ceasefire and amnesty are conflict resolutions carried out by the Prophet (PBUH) in the Mecca-Medina War. The Prophet (PBUH) ended the war against the Quraysh of Mecca by diminishing casualties and narrowing the space for war. In the modern context which radicalism in the name of religion has caused many conflicts, this sirah nabawiyah-based conflict resolution method is quite relevant to be applied in resolving theological-based conflicts in the Muslim World globally.
