<![CDATA[A multicultural society can be defined as a group of people who live permanently in a place that has its own culture and characteristics. Like the people in Kauman Village, which are included in a multicultural society because of the Javanese, Arab and Banjar ethnic groups who live in this area. The cultural diversity in this region has many differences, but this does not make it an obstacle for the three ethnic groups to be able to carry out a good social life. This study has three problem formulations, namely: What are the social conditions, what are the forms of social interaction that exist between Javanese, Arab, and Banjar ethnic groups in Kauman Village, Pasuruan Regency? And what are the factors that influence social interaction? This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type and applies George Herbert Mead's theory of Symbolic Interactionism. The results of this study reveal: The Kauman Village community is consistently involved in social interaction and maintains close social ties between the three ethnic groups. The form of social interaction that occurs between them is cooperation in the fields of trade, religion and social relations. By aiming to realize social life and resolve existing conflicts. There are three factors that influence the interaction process, namely cultural and linguistic acculturation, mutual respect and tolerance and economic cooperation factors to achieve the same goal. Masyarakat multikultural ialah sekelompok manusia yang tinggal di sebuah tempat yang miliki kebudayaan serta ciri khas tersendiri. Seperti halnya masyarakat di Kelurahan Kauman yang termasuk kedalam masyarakat multikultural karena adanya etnis Jawa, Arab dan Banjar yang menetap di daerah ini. Keberagaman budaya dalam wilayah ini memiliki banyak perbedaan, namun hal ini tidak menjadikan kendala bagi ketiga etnis tersebut untuk dapat melangsungkan kehidupan sosial yang baik. Ada 3 rumusan masalah di studi ini, yakni: Seperti apa kondisi sosial, apa saja bentuk interaksi sosial yang etnis Jawa, Arab, dan Banjar jalin di Kelurahan Kauman Kab. Pasuruan? Dan apa saja faktor yang pengaruhi interaksi sosialnya?. Studi ini memakai pendekatan kualitatif yang jenisnya penelitian deskriptif serta menerapkan teori Interaksionisme Simbolik dari George Herbert Mead. Hasil studi ini mengungkapkan: Masyarakat Kelurahan Kauman secara konsisten terlibat dalam interaksi sosial dan menjaga ikatan sosial yang erat antar ketiga etnisnya. Bentuk interaksi sosial mereka ialah kerja sama di bidang perdagangan, bidang keagamaan dan hubungan sosial kemasyarakatan. Dengan bertujuan untuk merealisaikan kehidupan sosial dan menyelesaikan konflik yang ada. Adapun tiga faktor yang mempengaruhi proses interaksinya yaitu akulturasi budaya dan bahasa, sikap saling menghargai serta toleransi dan faktor kerja sama dari segi perekonomian untuk mencapai tujuan yang sama.]]>
