Fifty percent of maternal deaths occur within the first 24 hours of delivery. Furthermore, 30 percent of the population still practices traditional treatments for a mother in their postpartum period. Timor tribe in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) has culturally distinctive practices for a mother in their postpartum period, called as tatobi and panggang. These two practices put the health at serious risk. For this reason the present research aims to further investigate such cultural practices of the Timor concerning the postpartum care (tatobi and panggang) in Bello village, Maulafa distric. This present research was qualitative employing phenomenological research design. The sample was determined by employing purposive sampling method. The results show that the mother, during their postpartum period, chose to do tatobi and panggang because such practices are believed to be able to help the mother for the post-pregnancy recovery. However, in the actual practices they often caused excessive bleeding leading to a higher risk of suffering from infections and postpartum anemia. Some conclusions can be drawn; such cultural practices, tatobi and panggang, are seriously risky for the postnatal mother, but they are beneficial, on the other hand, to improve blood circulation and promote exclusive breast milk. There are few guidelines for health workers to follow when providing and managing malaria prevention therapy during pregnancy, but due to a lack of effective treatment options, malaria management during pregnancy has become non-standard in many countries. This study aims to assess the malaria prevention program in pregnancy, including its advantages, challenges, and obstacles. It was carried out using a systematic scoping review of the literature to identify publications that addressed the prevention program. A structured search was conducted on different databases using predefined eligibility criteria for the 17 selected articles. Malaria prevention programs in pregnancy are effective, but they must be integrated and involve the community. Various countries are having difficulty implementing WHO-recommended strategies, such as Long-Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs), antimalarial drugs, and Rapid Diagnostic Tests. Therefore it is necessary to develop an integrated program to prevent and treat malaria in pregnancy.

Pregnant women in Indonesia, particularly in the Southwest Sumba Regency are faced with high malaria incidence. To overcome the challenge, midwives play a crucial role in integrating malaria services into maternal and child health (MCH) program. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the role of midwives in the implementation of integrated MCH services in the Southwest Sumba district. The location and participants were carefully selected and data collection was performed using the semi-structured interview method, which was divided into three sections. These included i) understanding of midwives regarding malaria and dangers to pregnant women, ii) the implementation of integrated malaria services for the MCH program, and iii) the role of midwives. The collected data were thematically analyzed and narratively presented based on the themes. The results showed that midwives in North Kodi District had a limited understanding of malaria. Consequently, the implementation of integrated MCH services, including specialized preventive education for pregnant women, was not at the optimal level. This phenomenon showed the need for malaria education, preparation of service standards, facilitative supervision, and cross-sectoral collaboration.
