Abstract

Abstrak : Dewasa ini wujud pelbagai bentuk tindakan dan provokasi yang bertentangan dengan budaya dan nilai patriotisme dalam kalangan masyarakat Malaysia terutama golongan belia. Makalah ini memberi tumpuan mengenai kesedaran belia bandar terhadap nilai patriotisme. Masalah kurangnya kesedaran terhadap nilai patriotisme sudah tentu akan menggugat dan menghalang pemupukan nilai tersebut sebagai unsur pembentukan sebuah bangsa Malaysia yang bersatu padu. Seramai 500 orang belia yang menetap di kawasan bandar di Semenanjung Malaysia terlibat dalam kajian ini. Hasil kajian ini diperoleh melalui soal selidik yang dianalisis secara deskiptif. Keseluruhan pengukuran patriotisme ini berasaskan lima nilai patriotisme, iaitu nilai kesetiaan, kebanggaan, kekitaan, berdisiplin, serta berusaha dan produktif yang mendokong perasaan cintakan negara. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa kesedaran belia terhadap nilai patriotisme adalah tinggi. Ketahanan nasional melalui kesedaran belia terhadap nilai patriotik mampu menjadi faktor perantara terhadap ikatan perpaduan masyarakat multi-etnik di Malaysia.Kata kunci : Nilai Patriotisme, Belia, Ketahanan NasionalAbstract : Lately there exist some various forms of action and provocation that contradicts with the culture and patriotism values among Malaysian especially youths. This article focuses on the awareness on patriotism values among the urban youth. The problem occurred such as lack of awareness onpatriotism values of course would threaten and prevent the value inculcation as the main formation element of Malaysian ethnic that is united. A total of 500 youths that reside in the urban areas in Peninsular Malaysia were involved in this study. This survey results achieved through questionnaire with descriptive analyses. Overall this patriotism measurement were based on the five patriotism values, namely loyalty value, pride, belonging, disciplined and strive and productive which support and feeling of love for the country. This survey results show that the awareness on patriotism value is high among the youths. The national resilience through awareness among youth on patriotic values could become an intermediary factor in bonding of unity in multi-ethnic community in Malaysia.Key words : Patriotism Value, Youth, National Resilience

Abstract

This article aims to describe the nation-building discourse and movement in Southeast Asia, particularly in Aceh-Indonesia and Pattani-Thailand. The significance of this research lies in the fact that these two regions share similar characteristics. Among them are socio-cultural and religio-political situations as conflict-affected areas with the dynamics of national discourse, and fluctuate views on national integration with the state. Islamic educational institutions in these two regions have contributed significantly in the formation of the nation-state. Dayah in Aceh and Pondok in Pattani not only serve as the centres of Islamic studies and character building for the community, but also function as the stage for social, cultural and political movements. Thus, Dayah and Pondok became the institutions to shape Islamic extremist as well as the agent to strengthen political identity. This article attempts to explain the genealogy of Islamic education and the metamorphosis of national discourse in these two regions. In addition, this article will also reveal the role of local actors in ethno-religious discourses and movements, and the response of the state and its apparatus in efforts to maintain national unity and statehood
