Abstract

The increase in people's lifestyles raises problems of energy and waste crises. The energy crisis occurred due to a rise in energy demand due to the 4.0 industrial revolution era. Meanwhile, waste problems arise as a result of public consumption. This study aimed to create a product formulation for biomass briquettes with organic waste as the primary raw material. This study used the Experimental Design Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with four formulations. The first formulation (V1) with the composition of rice husk: dry leaves: sawdust: cardboard, respectively 10:6:0:4, V2 (10:6:4:0), V3 (10:6:2:2), and V4 (10:2:6:2) Briquette quality testing uses four assessment indicators, namely shrinkage, ash content, combustion rate, and flame initiation time. The results showed that the composition of V2 briquettes was the best formulation with a shrinkage value of 92.52%, ash content of 7.48%, combustion rate of 0.0049 g/s, and flame initiation time of 2m 48s. Based on the research results, the Briquette V2formulation can be an affordable alternative energy solution to overcome the energy crisis in the world.

Abstract

The 21st century brings many new challenges and opportunities, mainly driven by technological advancements, globalization, and a rapidly changing workforce landscape. The main goal of education is no longer academic success but also equipping students with skills called 21st century skills. The 21st century skills needed to solve complex 21st century problems such as net zero challenges. Net zero aims to achieve carbon neutrality by balancing greenhouse gas emissions and removal from the atmosphere. The research aims to develop, implement, and analyze the effects of project based learning (PjBL)-science, technology, enggineering, and mathemathics (STEM) learning on students' 21st century skills to address the net zero challenge. The research also examined how students respond to renewable energy learning using the PjBL-STEM model through a solar-powered tractor project supported by the 4D frame. This study used a conversion mixed methods approach to transform qualitative data into quantitative data using established rubrics. The results showed that PjBL-STEM learning associated with environmental issues enhances students' 21st century skills and significantly affects the teaching of students' critical thinking. Meanwhile, students showed good performance in communication, collaboration, and creativity skills through discussion activities, teamwork, presentations, and engineering desain process

Abstract

The implementation of high-quality learning is something teachers must ensure. Consequently, teachers need to be able to design engaging learning procedures that draw students' attention to the subjects they are teaching. Understanding a student's preferred learning style is one of the necessary teachers. People with learning styles closely tied to their environments and personalities are adjusted. The process of receiving knowledge will be improved by defining the learning material to the learner's preferred learning style. One of the most used diagnostic tools for determining learning type is the VARK model. The visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and kinesthetic learning styles are divided into four divisions in the VARK paradigm. This research aims to identify the dominant learning style among science students. A qualitative descriptive methodology used one hundred junior high school students as research participants. Diagnostic exams and interviews were the tools used. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively by reducing data, presenting data, and making conclusions. According to the findings, 35% of students are kinesthetic learners, with 30% being visual, 21% being Auditory, and 14%t being Read/Write. Identifying learning tools, such as choosing learning models, creating and choosing materials, and learning media and assessment approaches that are more effective in accordance with student learning styles, can be done by developing one's understanding of learning styles.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and implement the instrument of science process skills tests on cellular living system organization matter, explicitly designed for secondary students. The indicators developed include formulating hypotheses, communicating, applying concepts, asking questions, observing, planning experiments, using laboratory tools, classifying, and interpreting data. The steps of this research are theoretical construction, determining the purpose of the assessment, constructing indicator items, compiling the items, expert judgment, instrument revision, field trials, and finalization of the instrument. The Science Process skills test consisted of 27 multiple-choice questions. The subject was 30 secondary school students. Data were analyzed using Rasch analysis. Evidence of the validity and reliability of the tests are presented. The conclusion is that the science process skills test instrument is theoretically and empirically valid and reliable
