Abstract

Citizen Engagement is one of the most important elements in social life. This engagement can bring up various positive contributions to a community. This activity is an important aspect of social responsibility as an active citizen. Youth participation in community activities involves community service (gotong-royong). Mutual cooperation will contribute to the growth and development of youth, as well as efforts to create community welfare. This research aims to determine the actualization of the Sakai Sambayan philosophy of youth people's life in the Kedaloman, Tanggamus district, Lampung, community in strengthening citizen engagement. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach using studies cases. The observation technique employed participant observation by becoming a member of Ikatan Muli-Mekhanai Kebandakhan in Pekon Kedaloman (local youth association). Then, interviewing the head of the organization and village officials to find out about the actualization of Sakai Sambayan local wisdom values. This study indicates that understanding the concept of Sakai Sambayan itself influences the actualization of local wisdom values in young people. Through understanding these life principles, young people have a culture of shame if they do not participate in community activities. The actualization value of Sakai Sambayan among the youth of Kedaloman can be seen in their various efforts to actively participate in the community activities, such as community service, religious activities, and the preservation of the cultural heritage in Pekon Kedaloman.

Abstract

Mengembangkan karakter siswa, menciptakan keterlibatan aktif dalam masyarakat, dan menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori kewarganegaraan dan pengalaman lapangan menjadi fokus penelitian ini sehingga melakukan eksplorasi integrasi Service Learning dalam Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi efektivitas integrasi Service Learning dalam Kurikulum Merdeka untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan, dengan fokus utama pada pengembangan karakter, partisipasi aktif dalam masyarakat, dan menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori kewarganegaraan dan pengalaman lapangan. Dengan menggunakan metode studi Pustaka dalam mencari literature yang relevan dalam analisis. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan bahwa Integrasi Service Learning dalam Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan secara konsisten meningkatkan perkembangan holistik siswa, termasuk peningkatan empati, keterampilan sosial, pemahaman mendalam terhadap realitas sosial, dan penguatan karakter, sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan, Integrasi Service Learning dalam Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan adalah langkah progresif mengatasi dampak learning loss dan learning gap akibat pandemi COVID-19. Meskipun ada tantangan, upaya memanfaatkan Service Learning dapat menjadi pilar penting dalam membentuk generasi muda Indonesia yang cerdas, berkarakter, dan siap menghadapi kompleksitas masyarakat global, sejalan dengan tujuan Kurikulum Merdeka.   Developing students' character, creating active engagement in society, and bridging the gap between citizenship theory and field experiences are the focal points of this research, leading to an exploration of integrating Service Learning into Citizenship Education. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of integrating Service Learning into the Merdeka Curriculum to enhance student engagement in Citizenship Education, with a primary focus on character development, active participation in society, and bridging the gap between citizenship theory and field experiences. Using a Literature Review method to search for relevant literature and conduct analysis,the findings indicate that the integration of Service Learning into the Civics Education consistently enhances students' holistic development, including increased empathy, social skills, in-depth understanding of social realities, and character reinforcement, aligning with the goals of the Merdeka Curriculum. In conclusion, integrating Service Learning in the context of the Civic Education is a progressive step in addressing the impact of learning loss and the learning gap due to the COVID-19 pandemi. Despite challenges, leveraging Service Learning can be a crucial pillar in shaping an intelligent, character-rich younger generation in Indonesia ready to face the complexities of the global community, in line with the objectives of the Kurikulum Merdeka.
