Abstract

This study aims to analyze: 1) Sources of income for corn farmers in Sei Mencirim Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency, 2) Household income of corn farmers in Sei Mencirim Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency, 3) Household consumption of corn farmers in Sei Mencirim Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency. The study was conducted in Sei Mencirim Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency from April to May 2023 with a sample of 50 farmers. The research method used was a survey method. Data analysis used were descriptive analysis, farm income analysis, and household income analysis. The results of this study indicate that sources of income for corn farmers in Sei Mencirim Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency come from two sources: income from the agricultural sector or corn farming and income from outside the agricultural sector, namely as craftsmen, drivers, traders, and civil servants. Household income for corn farmers in Sei Mencirim Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency is Rp. 6,250,000.00, derived from corn farming (Rp. 5,050,000.00) and from non-agricultural sources (Rp. 1,200,000.00). Household consumption is divided into two categories: food and non-food. The average household consumption in Sei Mencirim Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency is IDR 6,100,000.00 per season.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics and preferences of consumers in consuming rice, both local and national superior rice in Pagar Merbau District. The method used was a survey with an accidental sampling technique on 120 respondents consisting of 105 local rice consumers and 15 national rice consumers. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed using descriptive methods. The results showed that local rice consumers were dominated by the productive age group 26–35 years (36.19%), female (61.90%), had a high school or bachelor's degree, and had incomes in the middle to high range. Meanwhile, national rice consumers tended to be from an older age group, dominated by women (80%), with relatively lower education levels and lower incomes. In general, factors such as age, education, number of dependents, occupation, and income influenced rice consumption preferences. Consumers with higher economic levels and education tended to choose local rice, while consumers with economic limitations preferred national rice.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze shallot farmers' perceptions of the shallot development program. The research method used was a survey, which involved interviews and direct observation or supervision at the broad development locations. Interview guidance and data collection were guided by a structured questionnaire. The sampling technique for locations/regions was purposive based on the potential and carrying capacity of the commodity's development. Respondents were drawn using a purposive cluster sampling method to group the sample according to the research objectives. A total of 100 individuals were selected from farmer groups involved in shallot production. The analysis technique used was descriptive research. The results showed that farmers' perceptions categorized as high were those for community support/involvement (114.10%), assistance with inputs (123.47%), and assistance with seeds (101.10%). This means that the average perception of shallot farmers in Deli Serdang Regency for these criteria exceeded 100%. The farmer perception criteria that fell into the low category were program clarity (93.27%), program targeting accuracy (89.74%), mentoring and extension (86.81%), and financial assistance (91.49%). This criterion is considered low because the average percentage of this criterion is less than 100%.
