Abstract

Things that often appear in social phenomena are dialogue and maintaining relationships. Humans become creatures that have a sizable social movement in an effort to fulfill needs and must be able to adapt in an asynchronous social environment. In this environment, of course, it can make someone encounter situations that have never been encountered and of course that is full of uncertainty, that is, humans are required to be able to create interpersonal communication to try to get information so that life can continue. The theory of reducing uncertainty in a dialogue as well as forming relationships and maintaining a ready correlation. Which is this theory, putting all individuals in new positions or also using other people's conversations by trying to find the substance of the ongoing conversation. This theory is most important so that someone can shape the existing tactics when dealing with that situation as a result of which uncertainty and anxiety can be seen very well. This theory describes the state, preparation, then builds a correlation of one's strengths that unite on the right speech. And also that's what makes a person free from communication problems that put a person in uncertainty and anxiety.

Abstract

Maimun Palace is a historic building built during the 9th Malay Sultan Deli Dynasty or Sultan Ma'moen Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah. Construction of this building began on 26 August 1888 and ended on 18 May 1891. Maimun Palace is the Palace of the Deli Sultanate which is one of the tourism icons located in Medan City, North Sumatra. This research uses qualitative methods which can be obtained through observation of the palace. Maimun, the aim of this research is to find out how the Maimun Palace is said to be a tourism icon and to identify strategies for the Maimun Palace as a tourism icon for the city of Medan. The results of this research show that the Maimun Palace is said to be a tourism icon for the city of Medan because the main attraction of the Maimun Palace lies in its architecture. There is a combination of several cultures that influence the appearance of the Maimun Palace. Making the Maimun Palace an icon of the city of Medan because of its lack of natural potential, through nature reserves (heritage) it can increase tourism in Indonesia. So, in order to increase tourism potential in the city of Medan, Maimun Palace was made an icon of the city of Medan.

Abstract

Literacy quality is an important aspect in developing students' abilities, especially in the current digital era. This research aims to explore the use of the online media Instagram in improving the literacy quality of students of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program (KPI) A, North Sumatra State Islamic University (UINSU) in semester 6. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations of participants who actively use Instagram in their academic activities. Research findings show that creative and targeted use of Instagram can improve the literacy quality of KPI A UINSU students. Through the available visual and text features, students can expand their knowledge about current issues in the field of Islamic communication and broadcasting, as well as improve their reading, writing and critical thinking skills. Apart from that, collaboration between students and lecturers via Instagram also opens up space for in-depth discussion and reflection, increasing understanding and appreciation of lecture material. The implication of this research is the importance of integrating social media in learning strategies to facilitate the holistic development of student literacy in higher education.
