Stagnation in Identity-based Community: The Experience of Buton Youth Community Wiroto, Dondick Wicaksono

Youth college student communites in Gorontalo are interesting to study because almost all of these communities are formed by the reason of ethnic and regional origin. This study uses a youth community, namely HIPPMIB (Himpunan Pemuda Pelajar Mahasiswa Indonesia Buton /Youth Association of Indonesian Students Buton) as the subject under study. At this time, HIPPMIB in Gorontalo is experiencing stagnation, as fewer members attending community events. There are several factors that cause the community to stagnate, such as the community does not function well and the alienation of the members from the community. Data collected through focus group discussions (FGD) illuminate that the youth community Buton in Gorontalo city needs to increase its understanding of the community, reflect its experience and reorganized the community so that cohesion remains intact and symptoms of alienation can be addressed.

This research was based on the phenomenon of free sex behavior by students in their boarding houses, hence the existence of the term 'rules-free' and 'strict-rules' boarding houses. This phenomenon was interesting to study using the concept of behavior so that it can be understood sociologically how the two concepts of the boarding house are related. Grounded theory was used in this research in the hope that the construction of social control in the boarding house arises from the expressions and beliefs, experiences, feelings, and goals of the owner and the occupants. The results showed that students' deviant behavior in the form of free sex was caused by four factors, namely the absence of enforcement of the rules in the boarding house by the owner, students' weak self-control, the arrangement of boarding houses was hidden from society, and negative labeling formed by a stigma. This research concluded that self-control in a boarding house is not formed by awareness to uphold social norms, but is more prompted by one's desire to avoid being embarrassed.

This article is an initial step to reach a conceptual understanding on young entrepreneurs in sociological studies. Many studies pertaining to entrepreneurship have been found in various discipline of studies, however, nothing of note has been found particularly in connection to the concept of youth. The current reality in Indonesia precisely exhibits multiple entrepreneurship activities targeting young people as organizers and participants. The identity of entrepreneur is constructed by tracing and researching the variety of important concepts observed in various literature (written by economy, sociology, and entrepreneurship experts) concerning entrepreneur action. Entrepreneur identity has 4 dimensions: triggering event, innovation, action strategy of start-up arrangement (as stated in the business plan/model), and entrepreneurship implementation. Entrepreneur identity will be discussed by using multiple data obtained from YouTube in the form of speeches, lectures, and interviews of young entrepreneurs until an understanding is ultimately acquired regarding the identity of young entrepreneurs’ base of action by analyzing their emphasis on what they do as entrepreneurs. The discussion develops further as the identity touches on a more complex social context: social welfare, hence, young entrepreneurs also have the identity of young entrepreneurs’ social movement comprising of three phases: initiation, strategic, and control.

Informal sector which wish to study through this research are sidewalk vendors in the informal sector (street vendors or PKL). The exitence of street vendors becomes a problem for local governments in Indonesia and a challenge for city governments to make re-arrangement of street vendors. However, to avoid deification to the role of government, it is necessary to examine practices in the interaction between interest groups that may be involved in situations to support and not support the street vendors, so that street vendors always able to reproduce their existence. Conception of practical and discursive consciousness and power practice which is derived from Giddens structuration theory will be used to explain that PKL resistance arises not only because of the structural pressures but also because there is interaction between the actors of interest groups.

perkembangan Organisasi IWIG (Ikatan Waria Indonesia Gorontalo) dan Bagaimana Organisasi IWIG (Ikatan Waria Indonesia Gorontalo) mempertahankan eksistensinya ditengah stigma negatif dari masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan strategi penelitian studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa awal mula terbentuknya Organisasi Ikatan Waria Indonesia Gorontalo (IWIG) seringnya waria berkumpul dan tanpa tujuan yang jelas sehingga muncul ide untuk medirikan IWIG sebagai wadah bagi waria Gorontalo untuk berekspresi didalamnya dengan aturan yang ada. Dalam proses perkembangannya IWIG terlibat melakukan kerjasama dengan berbagai pihak dalam berbagai kegiatan serta kepentingan IWIG, mulai dari Pemerintah Gorontalo serta masyarakat Gorontalo. Hal tersebut diperkuat dengan teori kapital sosial yang mengatakan bahwa kapital sosial akan kuat tergantung pada kapasitas yang ada dalam kelompok masyarakat untuk membangun sejumlah asosiasi berikut membangun jaringannya. Kapital sosial terletak pula pada kemampuan sekelompok orang dalam suatu asosiasi atau perkumpulan dalam melibatkan diri dalam suatu jaringan hubungan sosial. Dalam menghadapi stigma negatif dari masyarakat IWIG lebih menggunakan pendekatan langsung dengan masyarakat, serta melibatkan masyarakat langsung dalam kegiatan yang dilaksanakan oleh IWIG, kemudian IWIG juga turut berpartisipasi secara aktif dengan kegiatan baik yang diselenggarakan pemerintah, sehingga dengan begitu menunjukkan jika waria juga dengan warga negara yang punya hak dan kewajiban seperti masyarakat pada umumnya

Pada tahun 2018, Gorontalo merupakan salah satu provinsi dengan rasio KDRT tertinggi, dan pada tahun 2020 pandemi Covid-19 telah menaikkan jumlah perempuan yang stress di Indonesia dan terbukti terjadi peningkatan KDRT dan kekerasan terhadap anak di Kabupaten Gorontalo Utara. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah sebagai salah satu cara untuk mencegah KDRT dengan menargetkan sosialisasi pencegahan tindakan KDRT pada masing-masing laki-laki dan perempuan pasangan suami istri yang menikah pada usia muda. Metode penyelesaian masalah adalah dengan mengundang narasumber psikolog yang memberikan materi pembangunan dan pembinaan kesadaran diri (self-awareness) di tingkat individu dan pasangan. Hasil pengabdian adalah tercapainya sosialisasi kepada kelompok sasaran berupa pengetahuan tentang data statistik, sebab-sebab, siklus, dan dampak KDRT, serta bagaimana upaya pencegahan KDRT dan peningkatan rasa percaya diri dalam memperbaiki dan mempertahankan rumah tangga yang harmonis. Sebagai kesimpulan adalah bahwa pengabdian berkaitan pencegahan KDRT dan kiat-kiat menghindari kemarahan menjadi sebuah tindakan kekerasan harus terus dilakukan di desa-desa di Kabupaten Gorontalo yang menjadi kabupaten yang tertinggi tingkat KDRT-nya. Pengabdian ini memberi saran-saran membangun bagi kerjasama aktif antara dosen, desa, dan Kementerian PPPA agar program pencegahan KDRT ini benar-benar bisa berkelanjutan dan bisa membangun ketahanan keluarga yang diharapkan.

Tanaman Eceng Gondok, selain memiliki dampak negatif, juga memiliki dampak positif. Salah satu dampak positifnya dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku dalam pembuatan kerajinan tangan dengan berbagai bentuk. Pelatihan yang dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa yang memprogramkan MBKM-Proyek Desa yang dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Dembe 1, diharapkan dapat berkontribusi dalam membangun desa terutama pada pencapaian tujuan yakni: 1) Membantu masyarakat memanfaatkan eceng gondok agar memiliki nilai positif ; 2) Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan terkait pemanfaatan eceng gondok: dan 3) Menumbuhkan minat masyarakat dan tenaga kreatifitas dalam mereproduksi eceng gondok.Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan Pelatihan Kerajinan eceng Gondok, tim pelaksana menghadapi hambatan-hambatan sebagai berikut: 1) kurangnnya disiplin waktu dari peserta. 2) Kurangnnya peserta yang hadir mengikuti pelatihan; 3) kurangnnya minat masyarakat untuk menekuni usaha yang bergerak dalam pemanfaatan eceng gondok. Produk yang dibuat dalam pelatihan ini berupa hiasan dinding berbahan dasar eceng gondok dengan teknik lukis menggunakan cet aklirik.
