Abstract

Flood disaster, by number and economic losses, account for about a third of all natural catastrophes throughout theworld. Semarang, as a waterfront city has been suffering from floods since historic time. This research aims to capturepeople’s perception and response to two different kind of flood. The study focused to identify and analyze communityresponse and its relation to their knowledge, preparedness and action level. An exploratory case study based onprimary and secondary data. The primary data were collected through observational study, questionnaires, semistructured interviews, and FGDs. A sample size of 128 was chosen based on purposive sampling methods. The findingsof the study indicated that people in the coastal areas have a high level of knowledge about floods (64%). Thisknowledge is comparatively high on amount of their past experiences of floods; however they lack in preparedness(43%) because most of the residents are fishermen who have low income so they could not must much effort to adapttheir building to flood. On the other hand, people in the inland, they lack in knowledge (18%) because flood iscomparatively recent in their area; but they have a good level of preparedness (24%) because they belong to high andmiddle level income strata. Furthermore, both communities in the coastal area and inland have a high level of actionbecause of a high knowledge and experience for coastal residents and a good preparedness for inland residents. Thisresearch leads to recommendation to improve the adaptive capacity of the people to cope with the floods. Therecommendation is to develop Community-based Disaster Education (CBDE) Framework with the main purpose is toincrease community knowledge about disaster and to enhance community resilience to flood.

Abstract

Berdasarkan observasi pada lima guru Geografi SMA kelas XI di Kota Semarang, terdapat permasalahan yang dialami oleh setiap guru dalam pembelajaran daring selama dan pasca pandemi COVID-19. Permasalahan yang ditemukan memperlihatkan kesamaan kendala dalam memberikan materi mengenai dinamika kependudukan. Banyaknya penerapan rumus-rumus dalam pokok bahasannya dan adanya tuntutan untuk menyediakan perangkat pembelajaran yang dapat memudahkan pemahaman dalam penalaran. Misalnya, menyiapkan media pembelajaran yang diikuti gambar, tabel, data, dan grafik yang menghabiskan banyak waktu. Maka tim melakukan upaya pelatihan yang ditujukan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam pokok bahasan kepedudukan dan perencanaan pembangunan serta kemampuan guru untuk membuat bahan ajar yang menarik. Pelatihan dilakukan secara daring, namun atas permintaan dari Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) sesi terakhir pelatihan, dilakukan secara luring. Peserta mengikuti kegiatan dengan antusias, dan kegiatan diakhiri dengan evaluasi dan pemberian postes untuk mengukur hasil pelatihan yang dilakukan. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kompetensi dan juga mendapatkan respon yang positif mengenai materi pelatihan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan lebih banyak pelatihan semacam ini untuk membantu guru, bukan hanya dalam penguasaan materi, melainkan juga untuk pembuatan bahan pembelajaran.

Abstract

The income of the people of Grogolan Village only depends on rice crops, therefore the community needs to innovate so that the village changes. The Giat 9 UNNES team raised ginger to be made into dipped ginger that is created from packaging and presentation by paying attention to the principles of creative economy, to improve the economic standard of life in Grogolan Village. The Giat 9 UNNES team collaborated with the cadre mothers of each hamlet of Grogolan Village in the ginger dipping program, so that all cadre mothers present were able to become spokespersons for the Grogolan Village community. The ingredients needed to make ginger dipping are very easy to find in the community, namely, ginger as the main component, cinnamon and lemongrass. The tools needed are a chopper or blender, tea bags, ziplock plastic and brand stickers. The stages of making ginger dip, through the process of selecting, peeling, washing, cutting, and drying in the sun. The Giat 9 UNNES team conducted exposure, socialization, and assistance to cadre mothers for the ginger dipping stage, the team also tried to plan as much and as practical as possible so that the community could apply it well.
