Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for agricultural machinery to support a cropping index of 200 in swampy land. This research was conducted in August 2021 in Muara Abab Village, Rantau Bayur District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province. This study used a descriptive-tabular method, while collecting primary data using survey techniques and semi-structured interviews. Secondary data collection was obtained through a literature study conducted to collect data on institutions and policies supporting the development of agricultural tools and machinery. The data obtained was processed descriptively and analyzed to see farmers income and the data is presented in the form of tabulations. The results showed that the total income of lebak swamp farmers was IDR 8,963,625.00/ha/year. To support the activities of the index cropping 200, it is necessary to add additional agricultural equipment such as 5 units of 2-wheeled tractors, 1 unit of 4-wheeled tractors, 9 units of water pumps, 5 units of combine harvesters, 14 units of threshers and dryer as much as 2 units. Abstract

This community service program was implemented in Payakabung Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. In this village, the development of oil palm plantations is relatively slow because the majority of farmers still cultivate rubber and vegetables. In addition, oil palm cultivation is hampered by the need for large areas of land, a large water supply, and limited farmer knowledge regarding nurseries and irrigation technology. Therefore, this community service program was carried out with the aim of accelerating the transfer of knowledge and practical skills to farmers in Payakabung Village, especially in the adoption of simple and inexpensive irrigation technology for oil palm nurseries. The activity methods included site surveys, training, and evaluation of results involving 16 participants (village officials, farmers, and housewives). The evaluation results showed an increase in participant knowledge of 100%, pipe making skills of 87.5% and assembly/operation skills of 81.25% with 75% of achievement indicator components exceeding the target. The resulting activity outputs were perforated pipe sprinkler irrigation devices and video documentation. As a follow-up to support farmer income, this program recommends planning mini workshops on irrigation services, oil palm nursery training, and the provision of larger land areas.
