Abstract

The comprehensive subject mastery and learning strategy are competences which must be possessed by chemistry teachers so that they are able to conduct their teaching professionally. As the time goes by, teachers as the main components in learning process are demanded to continuously grow and develop both their knowledge and skills. Teaching supervision is teaching guidance which is conducted by a supervisors to the teachers by providing professional assistance and service so that teachers become more competent in doing their tasks. Teaching guidance, which has precise and exact targets, conducted meticulously, programmed, and continuously, is very useful for the growth and the improvement of teaching quality and of teachers’ career. This study used Research and Development approach. The subjects of this study are 17 Chemistry teachers in Salatiga and 9 supervisors. The aim of this research is to devise the model of teaching supervision for high school chemistry teachers. Several steps were conducted which were 1) describing the model of the current high school chemistry teachers supervision, 2) constructing the model design, 3) validating the model design, 4) piloting the model design, 5) constructing final model of  professional competence – based teaching supervision on high school chemistry (SPK-SMA-BKP). This teaching supervision model requires a supervisor which is competent in supervising chemistry teaching, masters all high school teaching competencies, understands the basic principles and is experienced in conducting professional development continuously. In order to ensure the fulfillment of supervision’s aim, the teaching supervision will be conducted three times for each period of supervision so that the profile of chemistry teachers’ performance can be obtained comprehensively. Consequently, the diagnosis of strength and weaknesses can be conducted which leads to teaching supervision suitable for the needs of chemistry teachers.

Abstract

In an effort to provide a safe and stable learning environment in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikburistek) has issued a policy of the Kurikulum Merdeka for all levels of education. The underlying philosophy of this initiative is the concept of Merdeka Belajar, which essentially means that students are given the freedom to explore their respective interests and talents. This policy is a transformative step for the realization of Excellent Indonesian Human Resources (HR) who have a Pancasila student profile. Merdeka Belajar has been launched for 21 episodes through the end of June 2022. As this is a relatively new policy, some are naturally skeptical. Furthermore, comprehensive discussion of why and how the Kurikulum Merdeka is implemented to date is limited. Therefore, this paper presents an analysis of the new learning paradigm seen from the Kurikulum Merdeka perspective and the creation of a systematic review of the relevant databases for the adoption of curriculum changes. There is strong evidence that the Kurikulum Merdeka is a viable way to overcome learning losses due to school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. This work has the potential to become an important reference to increase commitment and cooperation from various parties in implementing policies for higher quality education.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate students' understanding of climate change material in Chemistry learning at SMA Negeri 1 Salatiga. By analyzing data from 186 students who answered five HOTS-based questions after reading texts related to the impact of climate change and urbanization in Salatiga, this study found that the average student comprehension score reached 10.51 out of 13 maximum points. Student participation was relatively low with an engagement rate of only 43.2%. These findings provide insight into the effectiveness of environmental and climate change-based Chemistry learning strategies and recommend innovations to increase student engagement.

Abstract

Isu air merupakan persoalan multidimensional yang melibatkan aspek lingkungan, sosial, dan pengambilan keputusan publik, sehingga relevan digunakan sebagai konteks dalam asesmen berpikir tingkat tinggi. Namun, praktik asesmen di satuan pendidikan masih cenderung menekankan penguasaan informasi faktual dan belum secara konsisten merekam penalaran kontekstual peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis karakteristik asesmen Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) berbasis bacaan isu air dalam mengungkap penalaran kontekstual peserta didik. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif analitik dengan dukungan analisis kualitatif terhadap pola respons peserta didik. Instrumen berupa paket soal HOTS berbasis bacaan reflektif dan informatif mengenai isu air, yang dirancang untuk menuntut analisis sebab akibat, inferensi makna, dan evaluasi solusi kontekstual. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa asesmen berbasis bacaan isu air mampu mengungkap variasi kedalaman penalaran peserta didik, khususnya dalam mengaitkan informasi teks dengan konteks sosial dan lingkungan. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa penggunaan bacaan kontekstual dalam asesmen HOTS berpotensi memperkuat kualitas evaluasi pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada penalaran dan pemahaman bermakna.
