Abstract

ABSTRACT  Baturaden ornamental plant farmers use pesticides and fertilizers containing cadmium to increase growth and plant diseases control. Cadmium is a very toxic heavy metal. Small doses of cadmium exposure in over a long time through respiratory tract, digestion, and skin penetration causes a workload on the kidneys. It resulting kidney damage that characterized by increased ureum and creatinine serum levels. The aimed of this study was determine the correlation of cadmium exposure to kidney function in terms of urea and creatinine serum levels. The research design was an observational analytic approach with cross sectional method. The respondents were 43 farmers. Research data were collected by interviews, measured the  urea and creatinine serum levels, also the cadmium urine levels. Data were analyzed by Spearman test. The results showed that there was a weak significant correlation between cadmium urine to ureum (r= 0.399 and p= 0.008) and creatinine serum levels (r= 0.331 and p= 0.03). We concluded that cadmium exposured correlated with increased ureum and creatinine serum levels.Keywords: Cadmium, Urea Serum Level, Creatinine Serum Level, Ornamental Plant Farmers                                                                                                       ABSTRAK Petani tanaman hias di Baturaden menggunakan pestisida dan pupuk yang mengandung kadmium untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan pengendalian penyakit tanaman. Kadmium adalah logam berat yang sangat beracun. Paparan kadmium dosis kecil dalam jangka waktu yang lama melalui saluran pernafasan, pencernaan, dan penetrasi kulit menyebabkan beban kerja pada ginjal. Hal tersebut mengakibatkan kerusakan ginjal yang ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar ureum dan kreatinin serum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan paparan kadmium terhadap fungsi ginjal ditinjau dari kadar ureum dan kreatinin serum. Desain penelitian adalah observasional analitik dengan metode cross sectional. Respondennya sebanyak 43 petani. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan wawancara, pengukuran kadar urea dan kreatinin serum, serta kadar kadmium urin. Data dianalisis dengan uji Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan bermakna yang lemah antara kadar kadmium urin dengan kadar serum ureum (r= 0,399 dan p= 0,008) dan kreatinin (r= 0,331 dan p= 0,03). Kami menyimpulkan bahwa paparan kadmium berkorelasi dengan peningkatan kadar ureum dan kreatinin serum.Kata Kunci: Kadmium, Kadar Ureum Serum, Kadar Kreatini Serum, Petani Tanaman Hias

Abstract

Centella asiatica (L.) has many active ingredients with many important roles, including as antioxidant, anti-inflamation and neuroprotectant. Centella asiatica (L.) can reduce inflammatory reactions by inhibiting the activity of TNF-α. Thus, Centella asiatica (L.) is a potential alternative therapy for traumatic brain injury by reducing inflammation via TNF-α expression modulation. This study aimed to determine the effect of Centella asiatica (L.) on serum TNF-α levels in rat model of traumatic brain injury. This study was conducted during the period of July 3-17, 2020 at the LPPT Unit IV, Gajah Mada University. This was a true experimental with post-test only control group study on 35 male wistar rats as  the experimental animals. The rats were divided into 5 groups: P1, P2, and traumatic brain injury groups that received Centella asiatica (L.) treatement at 150, 300, and 600mg/kgBW/d doses, respectively. Blood samples were collected after the experimental animals were terminated to assess serum TNF-α levels. Mean TNF-α levels were 60,980±4,057, 76,931±0,698, P3=75,889±0,948, P4=75,868±1,163, and 74,508±1,126 for P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5, respectively. The Kruskal Wallis test results showed a statistically different between groups (p = 0.005). This study shows that Centella asiatica (L.) can decrease serum TNF-α level in rat model of traumatic brain injury.

Abstract

Hyperglycemic is common in traumatic brain injury (TBI). Centella asiatica (CA) has antioxidant and antihyperglycemic effects. Objective: To determine the effect of CA on GDS in rat with TBI models. Methods: true experimental design with post test only controlled group design. The study used 35 experimental animals randomly divided into 5 groups. P1 was healthy rat, P2 was sick rat, P3, P4, and P5 were the model group TBI and given CA with dose of 150, 300, and 600 mg/kgbb/day. Administration of CA which was given orally and measurement of GDS levels was done after 7 days of treatment. The statistical test used the One Way ANOVA test, the Post Hoc LSD test. Results: Mean GDS at P1 = 94.78 ± 42.47; P2 = 90.97 ± 06.44; P3 = 110.21 ± 3.70; P4 = 122.35 ± 4.91; and P5 = 128.57 ± 3.90. The One Way ANOVA test results show the fact that there is a statistically significant population (p = 0.000). The results of the LSD Post Hoc Test showed that there was a difference between P1 and P3, P4 and P5; P2 with P3, P4 and P5; P3 to P5. Conclusion: the effect of CA on GDS levels in rat with TBI models

Abstract

Salah satu infeksi tropis yang sering diabaikan adalah kecacingan. Infeksi yang dijumpai di daerah tropis ini dapat berdampak pada status gizi anak yang jika diabaikan berpotensi mempengaruhi prestasi akademik anak tersebut. Sebagai salah satu desa di bagian utara Kabupaten Banyumas, masyarakat desa Ciberem bermatapencaharian utama sebagai pemasok bahan baku media tanam. Aktivitas mencampur tanah dengan pupuk kandang jika tidak dibarengi dengan kebersihan diri yang baik seperti pada anak, akan berpotensi menyebabkan infeksi cacing khususnya spesies yang siklus hidupnya melalui media tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prevalensi kecacingan di desa Ciberem, Sumbang, Kabupaten Banyumas dan mengetahui hubungan antara kecacingan dengan status gizi anak usia sekolah dasar di Ciberem. Keberadaan telur Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) diamati melalui pemeriksaan kualitatif, sedangkan status gizi anak dihitung melalui pemeriksaan antropometri. Hubungan antara kecacingan dan status gizi diuji dengan Fisher Exact Test. Prevalensi kejadian kecacingan pada anak usia sekolah dasar di desa Ciberem, Sumbang, Kabupaten Banyumas adalah 14,1% dengan variasi spesies yakni Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura dan Hymenolepis sp. Pada penelitian ini tidak ditemukan hubungan antara kecacingan dengan status gizi pada anak usia sekolah dasar di Ciberem, Sumbang, Kabupaten Banyumas.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Benda asing di telinga tengah merupakan kasus yang jarang, biasanya dapat terjadi karena adanya perforasi membran timpani terlebih dahulu sehingga benda asing masuk ke telinga tengah. Tujuan: Melaporkan suatu kasus benda asing telinga tengah yang jarang ditemukan. Laporan Kasus: wanita berusia 53 dengan diagnosis corpus alienum di cavum timpani dengan otitis media supuratif kronik telinga kanan.dan telahndilakukan evakuasi benda asing secara lokal anestesi dengan endoskopi telinga Pertanyaan Klinis: Apakah teknik yang tepat dalam pengambilan benda asing di telinga tengah. Telaah Literatur: Berbasis bukti mengenai teknik evakuasi pengambilan benda asing di telinga tengah melalui literatur. Hasil: Evakuasi benda asimg di telinga tengan dapat dilakukan melalui trasnkanal dengan endoskopi telinga. Kesimpulan: Evakuasi benda asing di telinga tengah harus dilakukan secara hati-hati dengan memperhatikan jenis benda asing, kepatuhan pasien, tehnik dan isntrumen yang tepat.
