Abstract

A reliable pipeline design requires hydrodynamic analysis. The analysis enables flow rate and pressure gradient investigations in obtaining an optimum configuration. In the other hand, a numerical approach occurs as a complex schematic is proposed. Solving this requirement, an iterative method is posible to be endorsed. This study aims to investigate single-phase gas pipeline hydrodynamic analysis. A model utilized a two-phase pressure gradient correlation, namely Beggs-Brill correlation, to converse single-phase gas pressure gradients into mass flow rates. Furthermore, the numerical method, called Newton-Raphson, is assesed on solving those iterative calculations. The results show that the model is able to solve a complex schematic. The mass flow rates obtain in the deviation up to 0.4 %, whereas the pressure gradients deviation is achieved on a higher value.

Abstract

A design phase commonly initiates either a product invention or development. Before it continues to the fabrication steps, a modern computational, enabling a simulation study during the phase, often gives opportunity to develop its effectiveness and efficiency. Through several boundary conditions, some analytical and/or computational approaches could be determined. This paper aims to elaborate both static simulations and simple experimental tests on an electric automobile chassis prototype. An application based on finite element analysis was assessed to carry out both von Misses stresses and the nodal displacements regarding the construction and/or material strength to a static loads mode. Furthermore, an experimental based examination was also executed as a simple physical validation. The studies emphasize accepted results on von Misses stresses and nodal displacements for both simulation and experimental approaches. Keywords: Chassis Statics, von Misses stresses, nodal displacements, finite element

Abstract

A nuclear power plant operation requires reliability safety systems. Therefore, an accidental scenario such as the LOCA becomes a specific attention. This relates to a countercurrent flow phenomenon which permits the occurrence of a flooding regime. This study aims to investigate the effets of I/D ratios of the riser on the onset of flooding and time-series voltage fluctuations of differential pressure signals of the flooding regime on a complex geometry representing a PWR hot leg. The test section contains a combination of a horizontal, an elbow and an inclined pipes. Three I/D ratios containing 1.9 (R1), 3.9 (R2) and 8.3 (R3) were assesed. The tabulated data are expressed in the term of a flooding curve. Meanwhile, the statistical features of the time-series voltage fluctuations of the signals are presented on both PDF and PSD graphs. The results obtained show that the assesed I/D ratios do not conduct significance effects on the onset of flooding. On the other hand, there are trends which can be obtained from the time-series signals with the increase of the I/D ratio. Those trends can also be observed in the such statistical features; the PDF and PSD graphs, respectively.

Abstract

The alumni gathering for the 25th years Mechanical Engineering of Sanata Dharma triggered the participants to initiate a forum to build communication, synergy and collaboration between alumni and the alma mater as well as informally started the alumni national network. However, four years have passed, the board of management has not been definitively realized. As a result, the initiators still carry out their mandate as ad interim board. This situation is not ideal. As a reflection and evaluation, a regeneration needs to be further conducted to strengthen the collaboration. This paper describes the participation rate of alumni in the formation of the board of management for 2022-2025 period. The result shows that the participation rate increases as the stages ware carried out. In addition, the figure gaining the majority establishes the support.

Abstract

The present work briefly investigates liquid/gas countercurrent two-phase flow phenomena which can be specifically found in a mitigation during an accidental scenario in the operation of a nuclear reactor. A comprehensive knowledge on the corresponding phenomena is obviously important to avoid the failure on the cooling mechanism. Here, a pair of fluid containing high viscous liquid/gas flows through a complex conduit representing 1/30 scaled-down of PWR hot leg’s typical geometry. Furthermore, the flow structures were visually observed, while the film thicknesses are extracted by an image processing algorithm through the corresponding optical-tabulated data. The obtained results reveal that a rather sharp decrease in liquid film corresponds to the flow regime transition. Keywords: Countercurrent two-phase flow, liquid film thickness, high viscous liquid, complex conduit

Abstract

A small leakage in the primary circuit of a nuclear power plant reactor may trigger the occurrence of countercurrent flow which probably develops into a flooding regime followed by the zero penetration caused core cooling failure. During extensive studies in the flooding phenomena in the PWR hot leg, the geometry effects have been widely investigated. The present study investigates the effects of I/D ratios of the riser on the interfacial fluctuations during the counter-current flow on a 1/30 scaled down PWR hot leg geometry. Here, the liquid film fluctuations were acquired by using parallel wire array probes on the basis of a conductance concept. Three I/D ratios which were varied consisted 1.9 (R1), 3.9 (R2) and 8.3 (R3). The obtained data were analyzed on the basis of both time and frequency domains. From the PDF the flooding regime obtains multimodal distributions, while the PSD approaches lower frequencies with higher magnitudes corresponding to either the occurrence of water blockage or slugs. Abstract

The management of the board of KAMESADHA for the 2021–2024 period was definitively established during a mechanism of general election. In a particular mission, the board should enhance the communication, synergy, and collaboration among the stakeholders, i.e. alumni and the university. The present work elaborates a statistical quantification on the ideas of the members of KAMESADHA regarding how important the alumni gathering is. A typical result reveals an annual gathering concerning the corresponding synergy is suggested.

Abstract

Bubble flow configurations generated by an ejector bubble generator were captured using a high-speed video camera and extracted into several images. The air flow and nozzle diameter were varied during the test in ranges of 0.1-1.5 lpm and 1.17-3.5 mm, respectively. The results reveal that in general the bubble flow structure coming out from the bubble generator is divided into three regions, namely the entrance, bubble swarm, and bubble dispersed region. It is found that there is a higher time delay of bubble production when the air flow and the nozzle diameter decrease. On the other hand, the bubble production time is longer, if the air flow and the nozzle diameter increase.
