Abstract

To carry out empowerment for groups with disabilities, the communication process is the central point of achieving success.To do empowerment itself is not an easy thing, it takes a certain strategy or approach and a sustainable process, one of which is empowerment communication. Communication for empowering people with disabilities is an effective strategy to change the general public's view of people with disabilities who consider their limitations as incapable of being independent. This research try to find the communication strategy to empower persons with disabilities in Rumah Kinasih Foundation Blitar. This study uses a qualitative approach, case study method and data collection by means of interviews. The Result show that to empower the disabled people, communication should use participative, persuasive, and compassion way. Communication with them use more effort and carefulness. In Rumah Kinasih, they also use reward to make disabled people more productive.

Abstract

ENGLISH Several regions in Indonesia have developed rural tourism as an effort to increase the economic activities of village communities. However, the development of tourism villages still has obstacles. One of them is related with reliable, interesting, and easily accessible sources of information to get a complete description before carrying out tourism activities in the village. Therefore, the research team examined information needs and media habits, or media consumption habits, as the basis for designing the Dolan Deso directory website in the district area of the ex-karesidenan Kediri. The selection of objects was centered on four districts in East Java, namely Blitar, Trenggalek, Kediri, and Tulungagung, which have tourist villages with good management. In addition, these four districts also have cultural roots, natural views, and attractions that are interesting to promote. The development of this directory website is carried out as a means to facilitate tourists in obtaining information as well as reference materials related to the type of information needed, the character of the media that is often used as a reference by the community, and various features needed as a reference to fulfill information related to Tourism Villages. INDONESIA Beberapa wilayah di Indonesia telah mengembangkan Desa Wisata sebagai upaya peningkatan aktivitas ekonomi masyarakat desa, diantaranya di wilayah kabupaten eks-karesidenan Kediri. Namun, pengembangan desa wisata masih memiliki beberapa hambatan, salah satunya terkait sumber informasi terpercaya, menarik dan mudah diakses (accessible) untuk mendapatkan deskripsi lengkap sebelum melaksanakan kegiatan wisata ke desa. Oleh karenanya, peneliti mengkaji kebutuhan informasi dan media habit atau kebiasaan penggunaan media sebagai dasar untuk perancangan website direktori Dolan Deso di wilayah kabupaten di eks-karesidenan Kediri. Pemilihan objek dipusatkan di 4 kabupaten di Jawa Timur, yakni Blitar, Trenggalek, Kediri dan Tulungagung yang telah memiliki desa wisata dengan manajemen yang baik. Selain itu, keempat kabupaten ini juga telah memiliki akar budaya, pemandangan alam, dan atraksi yang menarik untuk dipromosikan. Pengembangan website direktori ini dilaksanakan sebagai sarana untuk mempermudah wisatawan dalam mendapatkan informasi sekaligus sebagai bahan rujukan terkait jenis informasi yang dibutuhkan, karakter media yang sering dijadikan rujukan oleh masyarakat, dan berbagai fitur yang dibutuhkan sebagai rujukan untuk memenuhi informasi terkait Desa Wisata.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of women film producers in Indonesia post-reformation in utilizing film as a medium for social activism, both directly and indirectly. This study examines how Indonesian women film producers create social impact by producing films that address social, educational, and human rights issues, using the impact dimension theory popularized by Diana Barrett and Sheila Leddy. Through a qualitative approach with literature review methods, this research identifies narrative strategies, themes from the films they explore, and the potential impact of their works on driving social change. This research provides a new perspective on the role of women producers in constructing narratives and influencing the impact of their films. The results reveal that films play several important roles: through compelling stories, films can touch emotions; awareness to raise information and stimulate discussion; dimensions engagement to create real interaction from the audience; then the stronger movement which inspires new institutional practices; and ultimately occurs social change, to encouraging tangible action. This is all due to the role of women producers, who are not only have function in technical and financial, but also artistic and social activists who bring new perspectives, promote inclusivity, and empower communities.
