Abstract

ABSTRACTThis series of service activities has been carried out in collaboration between the service team and the Japanese Language MGMP of Central Java province. A preliminary study was conducted to find out the latest information regarding the urgent needs of Japanese language teachers in Central Java. Based on the information obtained, the problem faced is the lack of assistance from teaching practitioners in creating teaching modules and the flow of learning objectives which must be adapted to the Merdeka Curriculum. Assistance in creating teaching modules and seminars was carried out in 3 meetings. During mentoring, participants are given an understanding of the differences between the old curriculum and the Merdeka Curriculum in terms of competency achievements and the roles of teachers and students in teaching and learning activities. It is hoped that this activity can help Japanese teachers in the initial process of teaching to learning evaluation. Seminar activities regarding the differences in the application of the Merdeka Curriculum in high schools and universities are expected to equip high school students and teachers to prepare to continue learning Japanese at the tertiary level, as well as equip Japanese Language Education students and lecturers who will guide PLP, so that they can become more familiar with the application of the Merdeka Curriculum in Senior High School. Keywords: Teaching Module, Flow of Learning Objectives, Merdeka Curriculum, Japanese language learning ABSTRAKSerangkaian kegiatan pengabdian ini telah dilaksanakan dengan kerja sama antara tim pengabdian dan MGMP Bahasa Jepang provinsi Jateng. Abstract

Based on the preliminary study, it can be seen that the Japanese Language MGMP in Central Java is facing problems regarding the teaching of Japanese pronunciation. Many students pronounce Japanese incorrectly causing communication to not go smoothly. For example, when pronouncing the word ojiisan (おじいさん) which means “grandfather”, but pronounced with a short sound ojisan (おじさん)which means “uncle”. In addition, when pronouncing the word “ame” (雨)which means “rain” which should be pronounced with a high accent at the beginning, it is pronounced with “ame” (飴)with a high accent at the end, so the meaning changes to “candy”. Teachers have difficulty teaching it. To overcome the partner's problems, a workshop was held with the aim of providing knowledge about using the OJAD website and Tsutaeru Hatsuon. Through this workshop, high school Japanese teachers in Central Java can improve their ability to master and apply Japanese pronunciation, especially on Japanese accent, intonation and rhythm, then teach it to students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of Japanese Language Education students at Semarang State University in identifying Japanese accents. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data sources taken from the results of respondents' answers to perception tests regarding Japanese accents. The perception test was conducted using Praat through the Listening Experiments feature using MFC (Multiple Forced Choice) to distinguish ten pairs of Japanese vocabulary that have the same sound but have different accent patterns. The results showed that the correct answers from the test results of students' perception of Japanese accents were 55.23%. This shows that students' ability to identify Japanese accents is in the poor category. In other words, students have not been able to distinguish Japanese accents, especially in two vocabularies that have the same sound. This is due to the influence of the accent of vocabulary that has been learned first and the lack of sensitivity of students to changes in the rise and fall of accent tones.
