Abstract

Aliran dua fase merupakan bagian dari aliran multi-fase dan  masih dapat dibedakan menjadi beberapa bagian yang memepengaruhi koefisien perpindahan panas. Pada dunia industri, koefisien perpindahan panas memiliki arti penting. Dalam aplikasinya seperti pada proses pemanasan dan pendinginan, koefisien perpindahan panas sangat berpengaruh pada proses ini karena sangat menentukan hasil proses yang di inginkan.. Perubahan fasa ini menciptakan kondisi aliran dua fasa dimana sebelumnya aliran tersebut hanya satu fasa. Kondisi aliran dua fasa ini tentu memiliki koefisien perpindahan panas yang berbeda daripada aliran satu fasa. Sehingga kita perlu mengetahui besarnya pengaruh koefisien perpindahan panas pada aliran dua fasa. Penelitian ini  bertujuan untuk menentukan pengaruh fraksi massa terhadap koefisien perpindahan panas pada dinding coil.

Abstract

The hydration heat confined to the core of the mass concrete during the hydration reaction causes a temperature rise and irregular temperature distribution in the concrete. High temperatures in concrete cause Delay Ettringite Formation (DEF) that cause damage several years after pouring, especially if the concrete is in an acidic environment. The uneven temperature distribution causes thermal stresses that can initiate cracks in the concrete surface. This article discusses a prediction of temperature distribution inside a mass concrete used as a rotary kiln foundation. We measure the heat of hydration of the concrete sample using an adiabatic calorie meter and derive the heat of hydration equation from the measurement data. The hydration heat was used in numerical calculations to obtain the temperature distribution, maximal temperature and temperature differential. The numerical calculation shows that the maximum foundation temperature was 64.01 0C. This temperature is still below the limit temperature for the occurrence of Delayed Ettringite Formation (DEF). The core region has the highest temperature, while the surfaces have the lowest temperature. The difference between the highest and lowest temperatures is 37.40 0C. However, the temperature differential exceeds the safe limit, 20 0C, so heat treatment to prevent cracking needs to be done.

Abstract

Unlike in the case of high Reynolds number airfoil, selecting a turbulent closure model for the low Reynolds number airfoil is still a challenge. A turbulent model used for high Reynolds number airfoil is not necessarily suitable for low Reynolds number airfoil due to the presence of separation bubbles in the low Reynolds number airfoil. In this study, we used two simple turbulent models, Spalart-Allmaras and k- , in calculating thrust coefficient of low Reynolds number airfoil used as propeller to determine their accuracy. It was found that there was a significant discrepancy between the numerical calculation results by both the turbulent model and the experimental data.  The k-  was a little more accurate than Spalart-Allmaras turbulent closure model.

Abstract

This article discusses the early-age thermal stress, caused by the hydration heat, of a rotary kiln concrete foundation. We measure the hydration heat using an adiabatic calorie meter and perform finite volume numerical calculations to obtain the temperature distribution and finite element calculation to determine the thermal stress. The numerical simulation showed significant temperature differences between the core region and surface of the concrete. Compressive stress developed at the core, and tensile stress developed at the surface of the concrete during a heating period. The compressive stress was lower than the concrete compressive strength. The tensile stress was higher than the concrete tensile strength. So that crack developed in the surface. Heat treatment such as post-cooling or pre-cooling was needed to avoid the crack.

Abstract

In this paper a simple implementation of 1D TVD scheme to 2D triangular grid was proposed and sufficient condition for oscillation free solution of advection equation were found using monotone advective K-approximation. The approach was implemented to Superbee and Smart limiter and compared to Barth and Jespersen (BJ) scheme by using the schemes to well known classic case of advection of step and double step of scalar properties. Result indicated that all of the computed solutions are monotone and, apart from highly diffusive first order solution, they show similar level accuracy for test cases. Superbee limiter gives the best performance and follow by Smart limiter and BJ scheme.

Abstract

Since Dutch era, flood has become serious issues faced by DKI Jakarta. Study on prevention flood program has also been conducted since Dutch era. In rainy season, common flooding is caused by several factors as follows: lowland areas in the northern part of Jakarta below sea level, urbanization rate, irregular population density, slum neighborhood where scattered rubbish where quickly provoke the flood to stagnate and increase rather than receding. This flood is mainly caused by not only above factors but also land subsidence an average of 5-10 cm every year. This paper discusses on flood characteristics in DKI Jakarta. In the study, firstly history of flood was discussed started in Dutch era until after independence. It was founded that floods occur in continuous heavy rains like in January and February. There is a combination of floods caused by rain in the upstream and downstream. Previously heavy rains can cause flooding in subsequent heavy rains.
