Abstract

This study aims to develop and analyze innovations in the learning design of  Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) using technology, with a focus on enhancing student motivation. The innovative learning design integrates various digital media such as interactive videos, educational applications, and online platforms tailored to PAI content. The research employs a qualitative approach with case studies conducted in several secondary schools in both urban and rural areas to evaluate the effectiveness of technology use in different contexts. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and motivation questionnaires administered before and after the learning process. The findings reveal that incorporating technology significantly increases students’ interest and active participation during lessons. Moreover, students demonstrated improved understanding of religious concepts and the ability to apply Islamic values in daily life. The use of digital media also created a more engaging and interactive learning environment, reducing boredom associated with traditional teaching methods. This study highlights the importance of innovating PAI learning design to align with technological advancements and the characteristics of the current generation. It recommends that educators and educational institutions systematically integrate technology in curriculum planning and learning activities to achieve optimal learning outcomes and foster holistic character development in students.

Abstract

The integration of Islamic values ​​into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning design involves more than just presenting theological content, but also designing a learning process that shapes students' faith (iman), practice (amal), and morals (akhlaq). This article outlines the theoretical foundation, design principles, implementation model (adapted from ADDIE), recommended learning methods, value assessment design, case studies, implementation challenges and solution strategies, as well as policy recommendations and teacher professional development. The description is supported by a literature review and recent research on the internalization of Islamic values ​​and the use of technology for character education. .

Abstract

Perkembangan era digital dan arus globalisasi menuntut adanya perubahan arah dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) agar tetap bermakna dan relevan bagi peserta didik. Artikel ini membahas strategi pengembangan kurikulum PAI yang terintegrasi dengan keterampilan abad 21. Melalui pendekatan studi pustaka, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi berbagai cara untuk menyelaraskan nilai-nilai fundamental ajaran Islam dengan kompetensi masa depan seperti berpikir kritis, kreatif, kolaboratif, dan komunikatif (4C). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan relevansi PAI dapat dilakukan melalui penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek dan masalah, pemanfaatan teknologi digital secara proporsional, serta penekanan pada pengkajian isu-isu kontekstual yang dekat dengan kehidupan peserta didik. Simpulannya, pergeseran dari pendekatan yang menitikberatkan pada konten menjadi pendekatan berbasis kompetensi merupakan langkah penting agar PAI tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai mata pelajaran akademik, tetapi juga sebagai pedoman hidup yang bermakna dan inspiratif bagi generasi milenial dan generasi Z.

Abstract

This study analyzes the urgent need for reconstructing Islamic Religious Education (PAI) design as a proactive strategy to build Inclusive Religious Identity in Generation Alpha amid the threat of digital polarization. As true digital natives, Generation Alpha is highly vulnerable to algorithmic echo chambers, risking the solidification of exclusive religious views. Therefore, Inclusivity in PAI must be elevated to function as a spiritual immunity rooted in the Islamic value trilogy of Tasamuh, Tawassuth, and Ta’awun to instill the teachings of rahmatan lil alamin. Employing a Qualitative approach through Literature Study, this research identifies a significant pedagogical deficit in traditional PAI methods (dominated by lecturing and rote memorization). To bridge this gap, PAI design must be fully adapted based on three core principles: Active and Contextual Learning, strengthening the Affective Focus, and Safe Digital Technology Integration. These principles are synthesized into the structured Inclusive PAI Implementation Model. This model encompasses three interactive domains Pedagogical, Ecological/Cultural, and Policy to provide a concrete operational roadmap for PAI practitioners in cultivating moderate and tolerant religious character in the digital age.
