Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal and implement mathematics learning with community activities. This research focuses on the production process of charcoal handicrafts derived from coconut shells by communities in Kampung Kolam, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. This research uses qualitative research methods with an ethnographic approach. The method of data collection in this study is by observation, interviews, and documentation. This research instrument is the researcher himself who is supported by observation sheets, interview sheets, stationery, and documentation tools. Data analysis techniques used in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. While the data validity technique in this study uses triangulation techniques, namely by comparing data based on observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that there is a mathematical concept in the coconut shell charcoal production process, namely build a curved side space contained in a hollow hemispherical coconut shell and a tubular kiln used, build a flat side space contained in the block-shaped kiln used, a comparison of the value and reverse value contained in time and the number of coconut shells used.

Abstract

Abstrak. Permasalahan yang dialami oleh kebanyakan siswa disebut sebagai kesulitan dalam belajar. Kesulitan belajar yang dialami siswa ialah tidak mampu memahami pelajaran dengan baik, prestasi belajar yang rendah hingga permasalahan tidak naik kelas dan enggan melanjutkan sekolahnya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hal-hal yang menjadi penyebab siswa mengalami kesulitan belajar serta bagaimana upaya yang dilakukan guru BK dalam menangani kesulitan belajar siswa di MTs Al-Ridho. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, subjek dalam penelitian ini guru BK dan siswa/i kelas VII MTs Al-Ridho. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dari data wawancara kepada guru BK diperoleh keterangan bahwasanya beberapa siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar adalah siswa yang motivasi belajarnya rendah sehingga ia merasa bahwa sekolah adalah hal yang terlalu banyak tuntutan. Oleh karena itu, perlu kiranya guru BK untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada siswa bahwa sekolah merupakan proses yang diharus dilalui oleh setiap individu yang bertujuan untuk menambah wawasan dan pengetahuan serta mendukung tugas-tugas perkembangan. Guru BK hendaklah memberikan pemahaman seperti kepada siswa pada tiap-tiap waktu mengingat situasi dan kondisi yang ada di MTs Al-Ridho. Kata Kunci. Pelayanan; Bimbingan Konseling; Kesulitan Belajar   Abstract. The problems experienced by most students are referred to as difficulties in learning. Learning difficulties experienced by students are not being able to understand lessons properly, low learning achievement to problems not going to class and being reluctant to continue their studies. The purpose of this research is to find out the things that cause students to experience learning difficulties and how the efforts made by the counseling teacher in dealing with student learning difficulties at MTs Al-Ridho. The research method used in this study was a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were counseling teachers and class VII students at MTs Al-Ridho. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation studies. Based on the results of the research obtained from the interview data with the counseling teacher, information was obtained that some students who experienced learning difficulties were students with low learning motivation so that they felt that school was too demanding. Therefore, it is necessary for the BK teacher to provide an understanding to students that school is a process that must be passed by each individual which aims to add insight and knowledge and support developmental tasks. BK teachers should provide such understanding to students at any time considering the situation and conditions that exist at MTs Al-Ridho. Keywords. Services; Guidance Counseling; Difficulty Learning
