Abstract

This paper aims to assess the role of female filmmakers in the contemporary Indonesian film industries. Throughout history, the presence of women in the Indonesian film industry brings many effects on the way a woman is depicted on screen. As the portrayal of women in Indonesian films tends to be homogenous, many female filmmakers strive to give another image of women on screen and work against the stereotype of women in earlier Indonesian movies. Hence, this study argues that Indonesian female filmmakers challenge the depiction of women in the contemporary Indonesian film industry. This research uses a qualitative methodology, mainly textual analysis to have a deep understanding of way the Indonesian female filmmakers contribute to the depiction of women in film. By selecting two recent films produced by women, the research portrays women through its cinematic elements. The finding in this research demonstrates that Indonesian women filmmakers contribute to a different portrayal of women on screen and adds more discussion about how female filmmakers speak about the issue of women through their productions. Furthermore, the character of women in the selected film has a strong correlation with the local culture which is embedded in the social life of Indonesian. Hence, it can be concluded that Indonesian female directors contribute not only to the depiction of women but also to the discourse of women in Indonesian films

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kampanye Love Myself oleh BTS (Beyond The Scene) dalam meminimalisir prilaku perundungan di kalangan remaja di Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini di gunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan oleh penulis adalah dengan cara melakukan studi pustaka dengan melihat jurnal, artikel, mengunjungi website resmi pemerintah atau organisasi Internasional dan buku-buku yang berkaitan dengan objek penelitian. Teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan teknis analisis data kualitatif yang diperoleh melalui penelitian telaah pustaka. Hasil temuan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa BTS (Beyond The Scane) sebagai jembatan UNICEF dalam menyampaikan isi pesan kampanye global Love Myself telah berhasil. BTS (Beyond The Scene) dan UNICEF telah melakukan berbagai upaya secara meluas atau global dengan mewujudkan visi misi kampanye Love Myself ini dan hal itu diterima baik oleh para penggemar BTS (Beyond The Scene) yang disebut ARMY (Adorable Representative M.C For Youth) terkhususnya pada ARMY Indonesia di Medan dimana mereka menerima dengan baik pesan-pesan yang disampaikan oleh BTS (Beyond The Scene) serta merekapun menerapkan isi pesan kampanye Love Myself didalam diri mereka The research in this thesis aims to find out: How is the Love Myself campaign by BTS (Beyond The Scene) in minimizing bullying behavior among teenagers in Indonesia? This study used descriptive qualitative research methods. Data collection carried out by the author is by conducting a literature study by viewing journals, and articles, and visiting official websites of government or international organizations, and books related to the object of research. Data analysis techniques using technical analysis of qualitative data obtained through literature review. The findings of this study are that BTS (Beyond The Scene) as a UNICEF bridge in conveying the contents of the Love Myself global campaign message has been successful. BTS (Beyond The Scene) and UNICEF have made various efforts widely or globally by realizing the vision and mission of the Love Myself campaign and it was well received by BTS (Beyond The Scene) fans called ARMY (Adorable Representative M.C For Youth), especially on ARMY Indonesia in Medan where they received well the messages conveyed by BTS (Beyond The Scene) and they also implemented the contents of the Love Myself campaign message within themselves.
